harriet threw up her meds this morning...a brownish fluid. Don't know what it was could have been old blood?it was not like coffee grounds like with humans...more like steak sauce consistancy...don't know what bile looks like for cats either...but it was right after we gave her the medicine. both her eyes were draing this morning so she is not well. poor girl!
bizi
last night she threw up a bunch of food that she ate shortly after we gave her her meds.....hoping that the meds arenot making her sicker.
Hazel is fine and hattie is still sneezing.

Ohh noooo!

poor harriett!

i guess it will be back to the vet tomorrow... :o

it sounds like that med may not agree with her if she is throwing up consistently after having a dose - but not at other times.

the brown color could indicate bile...

Vomit may contain: food in various stages of digestion, bile (a brown, green, or yellow-colored, rather sticky liquid), blood, or any combination of these three.

thank you waves.
I am hoping it was only bile.
We let her rest an hour then gave her 2cc's of water in a syringe as a test run then waited 5 minutes to see if that stayed down, then gave her some predisone and her antibiotic with another cc of water and It stayed down. She is very lethargic. and yes back to the vet she goes tomorrow.
her temp is back up to 105....poor sick kitty...

she is throwing up what ever small amount of food she eats.
We took her food up but now she wants to eat....we don't know what we are doing here.
picked up some pedialyte to give instead of water. before we tried the fancy feast which she did not want any.
tonight, going to try to give her some pedialyte then wait awhile then her meds, she needs her prednisone and antibiotics, we should take her temp again they said that her high fever can make her dehydrated even more....it was 105 earlier today....
many cats don't survive this cat flu....
poor harriet...she is 13 years old....

Bizi,
I just wanted you to know that my thoughts are with you and best wishes to you and your baby! I do not know anything about the feline flu but I think you said she was a fighter so I think if that is the case maybe she will be just fine.:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug: :hug::hug::hug::hug:

thoughts for food

(((HUGS))) to you and kitty-wellness-wishes for dear Harriett.

i hope the vet can help today.

might try strictly controlling the quantity: when she looks for food, give her say a half teaspoon or a level teaspoon tops. if it stays down, repeat periodically. if may be that when she feels hungry she eats more (even if it seems like a small amount) than her digestive system can handle right now.

maybe the vet can suggest types of food / feeding approach that might help.

i don't know ... i am just tossing out ideas. :o i don't know how much Harriett is used to eating at any given time. one of our cats used to nibble throughout the day but ate less, overall, than other cats who'd lick clean any plate of food put in front of them. there is a lot of variability in eating habits.
