Red face

I would not tell him this...just my opinion. He doesn't need to know your personal struggles/obsticles, that may shake his confidence in you...I don't know.... just my opinion.

Bizi Could be right.

It might be better to just do the job the best you can.

Barbara,

may i ask - what is the reason that you don't do interstate? here's what i'm thinking: if it's a question of confidence/comfort you might be able to work up to it - starting with low traffic hours. it will depend too on how big/busy/complicated the needed interstate routes are.

if you are avoiding it due to vision problems, then i would definitely stick to "the long way."

personally, i would not risk telling him of driving issues either, unless, after some consideration, you establish that out of town is out of the question for you.

Default Long way!

Barbara,
I agree that this is your problem and I wouldn't bring it up to this guy! Like I said before I would just go the long way. Be comfortable and do your job. It doesn't matter how you get there. This guy isn't going to ask that he is just going to want to see the photos. So give him them! You can do this!

Default I'm not so sure now

Hi all,

After talking to the guy today he told me there are about 5 houses a day to do and he deals in a 60 mile radius. He said that most are in a 30 mile radius though. I don't even like driving that much to be driving that much. I can possibly see doing a 30 miles radius if push came to shove but not a 60 mile radius. I got all nervous when he told me this and excused myself and came home. I'm still be unsettled.

Red face hmmm...

Barbara

i hate to be discouraging, but ... i'm thinking about costs too...

a home w/in a 60 mile radius means a 120 miles round trip; 30 miles would mean 60 round trip. but that would be as the crow flies - road travel will be at least a few more miles. and taking "the long way" will mean even more miles.

that's a lot of mileage - and perhaps not even 'highway mileage' which is easier on a car. it means more frequent oil change/tuneup, brake service, alignment, tires, etc etc etc.

Thank you Waves, Beth, and Colleen. I still want to do it but not the ones in the 60 mile radius. I'm thinking of telling him that too. I don't plan on telling him it's because of my insecurities but instead because of something else like maybe the wear and tear on my car and such.
