Default I'm kind of sad with the way the world is today

Hi I didn't know how to title this. I have a sister and brother-in-law that
depended on their doctor who was very good about giving them samples
or even just enough medication. In a very high quality of very expensive
medicine in one case for sure. Because they don't have insurance.

They make just a little over the amount they can in Indiana, and they
own a motorcycle that they haven't been able to sell. They have been
trying to sell it for a long time. It just wont sell.

They happen to rent from us. At a very good rate, it wouldn't be possible
really to reduce their rent for us. But I have really been considering it.
I honestly don't have the okay to do this though. ITs not a house that
I own too. ITs all my husbands house. But I think I will suggest to
them that they talk to him about buying it, on contract. Even though
he doesn't like to sell on contract lots of times. If we could find a way
to make this work for them it might help.

(and they would own a house in the end)
See for the second time in less than a month. In what I believe is 21/2
years my sister is back in the hospital. They are trying to stabilize her
medications. They have to take her off one medication for sure completely
because it cost $ 800.00. And she tried from what my mom said, to try
and get some kind of grant. But it just wasn't enough to help her.
I don't know how many of the other medications she takes they have to
change.
The other part of this is my brother-in-law was just in the hospital last
week. And over the weekend we weren't sure is he was in or out.

This is so ridiculous because the thing is. They are spending more
time in the hospital on the taxpayers money than out right now.
So if the stupid government would just get their act together people
wouldn't be in such bad shape.

My sister was just ready to go back to work. She was out for interviews.

Thanks for listening. And thanks for being there when I needed to know how
to listen for her. I am one of the few that can be there for her when she
needs someone to listen.

I'm also just thankful that my mother is doing well enough that she can be by herself at least most the time. By the way did you know you could get
stuck in a lift chair. Well she did, because of no electricity. Thank goodness
for my niece.

Aw Donna....

So sorry to hear this... I totally relate and understand you...

Sometimes I just start thinking how sad it is that, with all the problems (soul, mind, health...) we still have money/economical problems... Sometimes I ramble and say, why does money exist ?? if you know what I mean...

Keep you and your family in my prayers.

Dear Donna,

indeed our world seems to revolve around hard-hearted principles at times doesn't it.

you are a sweet sister, daughter, mother, grandmother, wife, friend and a very generous person. i hope that with your husband you can work something out to help your sister and her family stay afloat. i am glad your mother has been relatively well. your family is blessed to have you, as are we here.

Donna you have a huge heart and the intentions are great. But one though I have is if they own the home and need at a point some nursing home care, don't they lien the estate or take the property.

Also, if they own it they can resort to taking a home equaity loan to cover expenses and get into a cunderum. Maybe because you are distance from emotional attachment, but your husband is concerned to protect the home and care for your family and his.

Let it be in God's hands and dh, also do you have section 8 that could assist with situations like this?
Hugs to you

i was getting free medicine from the drug companies before i got on disability.
Have they tried that? Also there is some loop hole in medicaid about working and making a certain amount of money and paying a fee for being on medicaid. I don't understand it but a friend of mine is on it and he says he has saved so much money.
I hope this might help..
you are a truly good person

Thanks everyone

I will work on these again with her. If she will let me. I'm pretty sure
she has tried many of them if not all. They have some kind of assets
that fall in categories that end up disqualifying them. Its hard to
explain, but they can't use the things. But the government does.

Like the motorcycle that they are working on selling. I'm not sure what
else is involved. I need to ask again.

Default motorcycle

Dear Donna,

what kind of bike is it?

i don't know if this will be applicable but i thought i'd mention it.

have they thought about selling it to a collector or, if it isn't a collector item, might there be a niche market for it?

i sold one of my cars that way. it was not strictly a collector item but it had its own following. i did not even bother to advertise it in the paper.

i advertised it on a fan site over the internet - folks who wanted that make/model - and found a buyer quickly. the web gives you access to potential buyers far away from you too. my buyer was out of state but he arranged for pickup from me.
