Question Klonopin increase

Hi; new to the board. Recently increased Klonopin to .5 mg x TID; usually take maybe .5 to .75 mg; have been having some pretty severe anxiety with changes going on and avoiding things that cause me anxiety (believe me, it's abnormal anxiety and am OK with the change.) Doc recommended the increase. I've been taking the other dosage for about two years until this increase. Just afraid I might be zonked out; I take adderall for ADD along with this but just don't want to be paranoid with others thinking I'm "waxed" while at work.

Roughly how long will it take to reach a steady state with the increase? I've been taking the .5 mg x TID for two days now. Any thoughts/opinions/suggestions?

Thanks much!

Hi,

Klonopin has a half life of 18 to 50 hours depending on your body.

According to this web site, steady-state is between 3 to 10.42 days

My numbers could be wrong. I did my best.

I hope you feel ok about going into work on Monday.

M.

Default yes i have same numbers as Mari

Dear Johnny,

a pdoc who was really keen with psychopharmacology once told me rule of thumb for steadystate/clearance is to consider 5 half-lives.

i use a different source but it gives the same half-life range of 18-50 hours - benzo.org.uk equivalence table

also, from http://www.rxlist.com/klonopin-drug.htm (click Clinical Pharmacology from the menu on the left)

The elimination half-life of clonazepam is typically 30 to 40 hours.
Klonopin-wise, after 5 days on a new dose, you won't be at steady state but should have a good idea of where you stand with it.

welcome to the forum. i hope you feel better! check back in with us.
