Dear Waves,

I am trusting that the dentist is experienced and that you are in good hands.
Give us an update later.

Smile the indomethacin was fine

they called back as i was about to get the bus - the dentist said it was ok that i had already taken indomethacin. i took my second dose before the procedure - more or less when i would have for the migraine, instead of taking the NSAID they usually give. the dentist also said if i took it the rest of the day for the migraine that would also cover the post-op needs. sometimes just 2 doses is enough for the migraine, but i guess i will take a third before i go to bed.

thanks again for your help this morning.

Dear Bizi,

pain - you mean the migraine? better thank you - the nausea and light sensitivity is gone. i managed to nix the pain right away with the meds and i have been on them all day, so that was controlled... heheh.

toothwise there never was any pain. small wisdom tooth, taken out to favor health of other teeth, since it wasn't being used, - lost opposing wisdom tooth already.

no stitches.

i want to thank you again for taking the time to look into this with me today. and also, this is very interesting! now i have more time and not specific concern with the procedure/bleeding whatnot, i am looking over your posts again in more depth.

Here is an article about two days of use:
Mania and Indomethacin
psychosis??? i've heard nasty things about it but psychosis???

and mania after only TWO DAYS of BID dosing - yikes!

and you know, these things are NOT on the insert. here everything comes in boxes - pharmacy cannot dispense things in the brown plastic containers with stick-on labels like in the US. everything comes boxed from the manufacturer, complete with the full drug insert.

maybe these are very very very rare reactions? i should ask my pdoc. i think i am safe because i haven't had any sort of activation (the opposite, if anything) at all, but still! this should be on the insert!

in case you are curious... the only bit in the insert that touches on psychiatric stuff is (translated):

There are rare reports of the following reactions: confusion, syncope, somnolence, seizures, coma, depression and other psychic disturbances such as derealization. These effects are often transitory and usually remit as therapy continues or following a dosage reduction. However, on occasion, these reactions may be pronounced enough to require suspension of treatment.

My dentist at the time had me ice that part of the mount (from the out side of course) for part of the day after the extraction and he asked me to eat ice cream (no pieces in it like fruit or nuts) for about 24 hours.
you know, my dad had some extractions at a different center - and they told him to avoid milk products for the first day or so afterwards!!! where i went i was not given food restrictions other than nothing hot for the first 24 hours, and warned that spicy food might be irritating. yah, i might hold off on the indian pickle for a while! .

That much milk protein upsets my stomach so I really did eat ice cream and froz yogurt for about 36 hours.
are you sure it is not lactose intolerance? have you ever seen that A+ milk with Lactobacillus acidophilus in it?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lactobacillus_acidophilus
Quote:
At adequate daily feeding levels, L. acidophilus may facilitate lactose digestion in lactose-intolerant subjects.[
L. acidophilus is also present in yogurt. i wonder if that could be why you find yogurt more digestible than milk or cream?
