Hi, This year is going to be different. My husband has never thought that Mothers day should be something that he should give me something because I'm not his mother. But on Mother's day this year. He gave me something.
It was small and he also took Derrick to the store and helped him look for something for me. They were going to take me out for Mothers day lunch or Dinner. But at that time period I was having severe migraine's and didn't feel well enough to go.

So we didn't go out. But we went another day. And things continued to go well in our relationship. He continued to treat me as his wife, lover and friend.

I realize that after over 29 years of marriage that shouldn't be a start of a relationship. Its not its a restart of a relationship. But in one way its a start of a understanding how it felt not to be the #1 person he cared for. Not meaning the boys over me though. He thought of himself first all the time.
I wasn't consulted when it was time to buy something, or change something.

SO when we all the sudden were going to repaint part of the living room,
I was asked what color would I like it to be. It was to be in the color of
red, like our carpet. But it was what I wanted anyway. And then to top
that, wow, what color would I like in the bathroom, but to remember I had
wanted a cream colored tub. So it had to compliment that.

And I timidly asked if later we could paint the kitchen. And was told yes.
Wow, I am getting a new house to a degree. To my liking. Its finally
turning into what I want. To top it off, he fixed a set of the drawers
So mice can't get in them. And promised to fix the rest after the party.
This is big for me. I am scared to death of mice. And he used to tease
me with them. But he stopped that a long time ago. But to take the
time to make sure they wont get in anymore. WOw.

So I am going to make sure Fathers day- Husband Day is special.

But we wont be going out to eat. I will cook something special.
Its me that likes to eat out. Not exactly him. I think I will invite
the other two boys and their families too. And ask each of the
girls to bring something special to the meal.

But this will be a special day. Because I finally feel as if my husband
wants to be just that a husband and my friend.
