Dear bobby
I do have a lot of fun...it jsut when I start to have too much fun...I run on the hypomanic side most of the time. Rarely do I have depression. I am so fortunate that way. I deal with my social anxieties by drinking too much, then I get uninhibited and say/do things that I would not do/say when I have not been drinking or if I am getting too close to the edge of mania. It is hard to explain. bizi |
Dear Bizi
i am glad it might not be mania... but you have observed this running high for a while, so it seems safe to assume at least some hypomania, and act accordingly. definitely alcohol-induced inhibition can look manic, and you are going to be more sensitive to caffeine if running a bit hypo - even 'normal' amounts of it can produce frenetic energy bursts, with tendency of distraction instead of focus. so, i think curtailing both alcohol and caffeine is a good idea for now. with the caffeine, i think eliminating would be best if you can - next best to that is just one cup first thing in the morning if you have trouble getting into gear. also the family visit will add stress and could precipitate things.... i'd really consider taking extra meds right through that, till you get home. Donna is right on with all the gym suggestions - want to tack on one more. ask at your regular gym if they have any affiliated gyms in the area you will be visiting, that will honor your membership. if not, they may be able to refer you to a gym there. (((hugs))) ~ waves ~ |
you are right waves. thankyou
I will ask if I can jsut pay per visit or but a one week memeber ship...if they allow that...my membership here doesn't have any other afiliations. I am better today, amazing what geodon and some clearer thinking can do for me. I don't think I am manic, just runnig a bit high in general....need to slow down. bizi |
go on line to check out gyms. maybe print out a pass.
Bizi,
You can go to a company's web site and see if they have a free one week pass -- some will do that with lots of conditions. Others might charge you by the day. You say that you seem more up since you started dieting and working out. Have you considered that your blood sugar is lower now and affecting your moods? Have you checked? Have you talked to your pdoc to discuss more meds? Hormones involved in exercise, blood sugar, and so on are powerful. M. |
I am afraid of my pdoc, she will want to commit me if she knew that I was this hypo...Not happening. I see her on july 29th.
There is nothing that can be done with my current medication schedule...am at the max doses. I don't want to take anymore benzo and I am not willing to change meds. She told me that I have to figure this stuff out for myself...that I can't just rely on the meds...so I am doing that....being more aware of the things that I am doing. No caffiene which I have a headache from....I am still dieting because I was starting to gain back some of what I lost by my binging... I went to the gym last night and am going to go tonight again and maybe jsut swim...I have no other hobbies and going to the gym is productive and gives me something to do... and can burn off energy. Other than be on the computer or watching tv...that seems very non productive. Don't want to go shopping and spend money....I am too restless to read, later we will watch another episode of lost and I will have a beer. then read before bed. bizi |
Dear Bizi,
Does your gym have yoga classes? They might help you control the up moods a little. M. |
yes my gym has many different classes but none at the times that I go.
I would have to rearrange my day...which would not be easy for me. thanks bizi |
Good luck on figuring it out Bizi
I think you are a very good person knowing what you are doing for yourself. Donna |
