A piece of ginger in the mouth also helps.
The latter shouldn't be tried by anyone sensitive to spicy food as it can irritate the stomach.
A couple of crushed basil leaves with one teaspoon of honey and some ground pepper clears the throat immediately.

Hope you feel better soon.

Waves,
The cloves were marvelous last night.
I'm so glad I had them available in the house.

This morning I woke up with a bit of a cough.
I put four cloves in my mouth for an hour while I was checking emails, ironing my clothes, . . .
When I left the house, my throat was fine.

You and your mother need to make a book or something so that this plant wisdom can be cherished by others.

Lol Mari

i'm glad the cloves helped you feel better. i don't think my mom and i have comprehensive enough knowledge for a book... hee hee. thanks though.

clove oil is actually known - i found out it is used in commercial dentistry. cloves in the mouth are helpful for toothache too. but it is a good disinfectant too... probably just as good as Chloraseptic, maybe better, hehe. plus it's antifungal, antiviral, antimicrobial... good stuff.

if you continue to have bouts of cough and/or discomfort however, do please go to your mdoc and get checked.

Waves,
The cough might be related to the cpap machine.

The air dries out my upper resp track and even my eyes I think.

Recently I was given a humidifier (50% of the sleep doc's patients use the humidifier. ) for the machine. I am trying different settings. My sis suggested that the moderately high setting might have caused the sore throat so last night I set the humidifier on the lowest setting. I woke up with dry (slightly cracking lips). . . . but hard to tell if the machine cased that at all because I fell asleep on the couch and was only in the bed with the cpap about three or four hours.

So for a proper experiment I need to keep track of
1. number of hours on the machine
2. setting of the the humidifier

I have to practice a bit.

No way to know yet.

Dear Waves,
A book does not have to be comprehensive. It would merely need more information than the regular person has.

The presentation and the approach to the info would be more important to most readers.

Imagine the great pictures that could come with such a book!

I have not heard of people getting sore throats before with humidifiers usually they are so dry from the air that they welcome the humidity. but I don't know you could call the supplier and ask....give you a better idea about the settings.
good luck.
be back monday night. pensicola here we come, even though 50-60% of rain...oh well I will just have to get bush whacked!
