This should be reported to the doctor ASAP. Topamax can cause
a loss of bicarbonate in the blood which can cause big trouble!

Hi, Cokina,

You are describing a serious side effect. The doctor has to be notified
immediately. And your husband will probably be given a different medication.
Call the doctor that prescribed the Topamax.
Also call the pharmacy where you got the Topamax.

The side effects I encountered did not go away
during the ten days I was on it.

I'm on it for migraine prevention. It has been helpful for that. It is a med I love to hate. I have lost track of how many years I have been on it. I'm on 50 mgs. I was a mess when on higher dosages. I had severe memory loss. Even at 50 mgs. It is tough and I very much miss my former self. I take PS 100 (have mentioned this a lot on this forum), which I get at Whole Foods and it seems to help a little with the memory issues and I'm appreciative. I hope some day in the near future to get down to 25 mgs, fingers crossed.
