sometimes the quality of the emotion is sort of a secondary aspect.

just the amplitude (intensity) of an emotion can be problematic, regardless of quality. it can be overwhelming. the opposite of grounding, whatever that would be.

Dear Waves,
This is well put.

. . . and partly explains why I do not like to engage with people.
I limit my connections with others.

Teaching is different somehow. When I teach I am involved, but only as long as my interaction with the student.
