Default Winter Solstice and Total Lunar Eclipse: Tuesday night, Dec. 21

Hi,

I celebrate the first day of winter because the days start getting longer.
This year, we also have a total lunar eclipse the same night. This is a rare event that has not happened since 1554.

Pretty cool.

There’s a total lunar eclipse happening across all of North America the night of December 21 While it may be happening a little late for folks on the East Coast, you might find it’s worth staying up for it. The eclipse will start to be noticeable around 1:00 AM ET, with the total eclipse beginning at 2:41 AM.

Next Tuesday is also the Winter Solstice, which marks the beginning of winter in the Northern Hemisphere (although it started a few weeks back for many folks!). The solstice is actually a very specific event and time. This year it’s at 11:38 Greenwich Mean Time (actually now known as Universal Time). . . .
So even though we’re still facing several months of cold weather across the US, we’ll soon see days start to get longer, and eventually warmer, from this point forward.

Dec.21st is my sisters birthday,on top of it being the winter solstice, and the shortest day of the year.(Here in the Northern Hemisphere)

After that day,the days will slowly become longer. I'm ready for Spring.LOL Maybe when it gets around February 2nd (Groundhogs day),the ground hog won't see it's shadow. Isn't that the way it goes for a shorter Winter? BF

When they are giving the Greenwich Mean Time, sometimes they will say Zulu at the end of that time broadcast. Universal Coordinated Time is a time standard that is broadcasted from Fort Collins Colorado. At night I can hear Fort Collins broadcasting the exact time on 15,10,and 5 MHZ. BF
