I am still in my pj's:o
What a wonderful birthday! Our neighbors surprised us with a meal! they brought over cabbage jambalya(cassorole with ground beef and rotel tomatoes and rice) Beef brisket that cooked in her stove over night, black eyed peas with ham. then ham slices with pinapple. we were shocked. that was so sweet of them. I called to thank her and we talked like old friends. so nice. bizi |

Pj's have been the best this holiday season. Last few days youngest and I were homebound without a car with the guy's pulling holiday shifts so others could have the time with their families.
That meal sounds so yummy Bizi, great neighbors. Did you ever hear of pigs in the blanket? The kind with hamburg mixed with rice rolled into ovals, I cook the cabbage, peel off leafs and wrap the raw meat. Lay in a big stew pot, I use tomato soup, in laws used tomatoes; then I cut up a green pepper in slices, cover and stew until supper. Would make mashed potatoes, then use the gravy from soup over top..... Home made piorgies, I make them filled with potato and onion, or Farmer Cheese, like a dry cottage cheese, Stuff the dough circle cut outs with the filling, pinch over in a half circle, put in boiling water until they float....drain....then add to sautee butter and onions. Haluski; is sliced cabbage, butter and noodles.... Comfort food of the grandma's passed down. OMG, and I want to lose a ton of weight.... An extended birthday wish to you and great friends. di |
