Unhappy Health concerns

Just what I don't need health problems.
It has been a stressfull few years, especially the last year and half. I went to the doctor with swelling, face, ankles, weight gain,
My BP was elevated, I got a water pill and 24 hr urine test. That showed Protein in the Urine so blood work either early tomorrow more then likely Thrusday.

I had been taking a simvastine med, my generally great cholesterol was elevated 2 years ago.

I do not notice any more then usual shortness of breath, but my weight gain over the last 15 years is 50 lbs. Same time the thyroid went after birth of the youngest when I was 41.

I worry that the stress has taken a toll on me. I need to keep working pt with the loss of dh job and unemployment. It really is difficult though with chronic pain, worries, the litigation, now the ex has not paid me his half thinking I will let it all go away....

But, I guess the only thing is follow up with the blood work and hope the heart and kidneys are okay that it is just stress related.
I am walking more, and watching all salt items. But, I wonder about that simvastin that I was taking.
Gosh so many things as we get older,
di

You might look into Vit D (D3) supplementation - there 's thread about how it can help with so many things.
There are threads about statins and alternatives too.

http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...090#post767090

My drs would prefer me to be on some sort of statin, 350 chol #, and high triglycerides - but I plan to work on the weight gain and hormone imbalances with natural or more alternative ways... but of course I've been procrastinating on making the appts...
I did finally make eye check up appt so going forward on it now for spring.

Heart

Thanks for that info Jo,
I am lactose intolerant too so I avoid dairy where the Vit D would be. Had you read anything about Cinnamin and healthy heart? If it is the simvastin I too would rather an alternative.

I have had the thyroid issues.....I just read where lithium can cause thyroid problems, from the chemical in it. If the illness do not kill us the med's will.

My asthma has been great so far this year, last summer with the heat and work sites I had issues. But not all winter.

I really need to address the weight. It seemed nothing I did helped after menopause and thyroid issues. Going to try the treadmill....until the back herniations scream at me.

DiMarie

I also take Simvastin. I dont seem to have a problem with it.
But it wasn't the first one I was put on, and I did have problems
with the first one. I can't remember what it was.

I gained lots of weight when I was adding lots of meds. And I started
losing when I really worked to watch how I went to the gym.
But the biggest losing for me came when I personally went on Metformin.

So I can't seem to help you. But I'm here to listen.
By the way I used Cinnamin and really loved using this alternative or
herb. It helped a lot. i need to get back on it and others.

I've read some of the cinnamon info in the past , but didn't add it to my supplements, since I haven't been consistent with taking the ones I have on the shelf...

this is interesting -
[Effects

Cinnamon's health benefits stem from its essential oils that activate insulin receptors and mimic the action of insulin to control blood sugar levels. Another compound in cinnamon, hydroxycinnamaldehyde, helps fight inflammation, a condition that has been linked to an increased risk for being overweight or obese. Cinnamon compounds may also reduce levels of harmful blood lipids that have also been associated with obesity. Daily cinnamon supplements may also boost antioxidant effects in your body that can reduce oxidative stress in metabolic syndrome, a condition that contributes to obesity.

]

I do think I have metabolic syndrome, I took some quizzes in a book that point to it.

I think I will get somemore Cinnamon.

And restart it. I think it helped before and I really believe that it would
again.
