Default the inner smile, antidote to nervous symptoms

Hi,
What is the innersmile?Briefly it means to not take our inner self seriously.

What is inner enviroment? It is our thoughts, impulses feelings and our muscles .We can change our thoughts and control our impulses but not our feelings or sensations.

A example of how this has worked for me in the past is as follows.

One day I had a task of fixing the bathroom sink. The drain was clogged and I needed help.
I asked my wife to help me and she didn't like me asking her. While fixing the drain I became frustrated and also my wife was impatient.
She said something like you can't fix anything because you are messed up in the head.
Well i started to get worked up and felt like giving her a piece of my mind.I had all kinds of racing thoughts and symptoms.
Suddenly I thought how ridiclous this reaction has become and silently laughed at my"selfimportance'. Humor is your best friend temper your worst enemy.
I finished the job and stayed silent with my wife.
For the rest of the day I relished the victory I had over my angry and fearful temper. It gave me quite a revitilizing cycle that lasted several days
The innersmile is a hard won victory for nervous people. For some it can come quick and others alot longer.
If you doubt you can do this, just look into your past and most likely you have had this before your present imbalence.Feelings do rise and fall and run their course if we only don't take them as important and dangerous.
Do things in part acts and endorse for your effort.

this is good practical advice John. i am glad you were able to help yourself and also avoid unnecessary hardship in your relationship. i wish your wife had been more understanding about the sink.
