Bizi,

I like the links. But #19 wasn't scary, he lives in Kentucky. He was just providing meat for his family, at least that's how I saw it

The happy link was great, I'll probably go there at least once a day to have a good story to share with my family.

(((Steve)))

is there someone you can stay with?

can you just unhook the tv and totally not watch it? read books instead - fiction - no newspapers.

do you feel obsessed with the news and finding out more?

what has worked in the past to help you climb out of an obsessive spiral, or prevented you from falling deeper into one?

---------------------------
Mari makes good points here, about the so-called "news" - it is not "real information" ... it is manipulated and manipulative, they use any means to try to keep you glued. you can quit their game by shutting off the set:

well said Mari, and hang in there Steve. Things will be alright. they will be alright. tell yourseelf that. shut yourself in a room without a tv and repeat it over and over. "I am going to be ok. God will look after me. God loves me." or whatever comes more naturally to you if that doesn't work. sometimes even just counting with my breath helps me relax a bit more.

(((hugs)))

if you haven't read it, you must read The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister. i don't know what i loved best the illustrations or the story. the web view doesn't do the illustrations justice i'm afraid, honestly.

but here is an amazon link to it...

http://www.amazon.com/Rainbow-Fish-M...uct/1558580093

i see now there is at least one sequel and other products based on this book, too. curious about those.

My mom grew up on a tiny dirt farm in Sulphur, Kentucky, during the Depression. Not sure the place still exists. She learned to shoot when she was 8, a 22 rifle. Forget when she killed her first squirrel. Went in the stewpot that night. Still happens.

If I made an urban 8yr-old go out & kill/trap her own meal now it might be child abuse.

Curly and Jude,

I looked up Sulpher, Kentucky. The town still exists.

I know people in Tennessee and other rural people who hunt. It's not much different from fishing. . . .. just guns instead of fishing poles.

You're right, Bizi.

It is hard to see the teddy bear in the picture of the room. The picture of the 11 year old child is surprising.

Many pictures of the other children are disturbing as well.
