Help Not sleeping up until daybreak

Try as I may try as I might, I hav no normal sleep patterns. My mind starts working I can;t turn it off...anxiety. I think.,I replay situations, evn hold baby blanket and smell it deeply.

I saw my friend that is on a committee with me today, she is a psychirtrist and told me I look so tired so strained, that I am holding too much guilt. She suggested calling the PCP and getting an anti/anxiety med. I had my ativan for racing heart/anxiety, but she said it is only 2 hour life. She said that when my anxiety panic was high years ago when I was on the effexor I need to do this again to slow my mind down.

I only have 2 1/2 weeks to get back on my feet for work. I went to a Grief support group Tuesday, but gosh, I felt so bad for them and wanted to help them sort their problems too, One gal her Mom passed away and was a care giver to her Dad, she ahd to put him in an assisted living center, She said he Mom hid things, how she was a door mat for ehr dad....

I am telling her our parents grew up in a time that was what was expected, they would not leave, leave to go where? That was her home, she was the oldest and he the youngest, so they were codependant...me the sociologist trying to helpp ehr understand....While my oun troubles are eating me away.

I have no house work done, husband helps but YIKES it is getting bad. laundry is getting used from baskets, doing it as I need too....Finally outting sheets away from two weeks ago.

Bathrooms need serious cleaning, I WILL do it tonight! Even if not all of them, I will get the two upstairs done.

I deeply appreciate all the check in's I get, and hellos. They truely help me to know I am thought of and cared about...
Love you all,
Di
PS, I am afraid to try meds De took, Trazadone, Klonopin, serequol, lexpro....not sure what the doctor will perscribe. The paxil adn prozac gave me murderous night terrors.

hi hon. i have chronic insomnia. i don't tolerate sleep meds. mine os more from pain, but i have one of those brains that never shits off. usually think of my next art or craft project.

i did start taking meatonin about 2 months ago. but honestly kept forgetting it. the last 2 weeks...i have been faithful. that and my magnesium. oh my goodness...i can actually fall alseep. not that i stay alseep...but that is due to pain.

can you take that with other meds you take? we can ask mrsd. i got a big bottle ar walmart. very inexpansive, but actually works.

mega hugs sweety. i know i haven't been around posting too much...but i think f you and pray for you and your family daily.

klonipin is a longer acting benzo and it helps get you to sleep by shutting off your brain. I have taken it twice these past 2 nights cause of the poison ivy worries...slept like a rock...needed to though cause I had not sleept well for a couple of weeks.
anyway...I normally don't advocate for tranquilizers but we have to sleep.
I also take a sleeping pill ambien cr...frightening to think that it stopped working.
take care and here is to better sleep.
warm tea, warm bath, warm milk, warm feet...very soothing....

Heart Sleep

Hi my friend,
I can sleep, in the daytime....when the world is out in full force and things seem safe. There is people around and it is OK to finally close my eyes. IT is when everyone is asleep at night, quiet that my mind frets, grieves, worry's, Sometimes even plays hundred games of solitare.

I hope that whatever the pcp gives me turns the mind off....
I am getting use to being up all night and sleeping while the family is in school and at work.
I am not sure about what the med interactions is...I take valium 5-10 mg most days for spasms, forget a lot. Percocette near nightly for pain, I should take 1 darvocete for the knee degernative problems.

Otherwise I take synthroid, baby asprin when I remember, and vitamin/ something for my bones in it.
Ativan for heart palp's as needed.
I know my friends must be thinking of me, only thing keeping me from melt down,
di

Di,

I hope you doctor can help you get on something to help with sleep. I know that klnopin will help me sleep but with a hangover the next day. Most people I know though don't get the hangover because they take theirs everyday I suppose and I take mine as needed. I'm like you though, I wouldn't know how it would react with all the other medicines your on.

I do get creative at times like Curious does when I'm up all night.

Hang in there.

I take Klonapin and Trazadone at night, or else I wouldn't fall asleep, I still wake up at on and off, but at least I get sleep.

I hate when the mind won't shut down, it's an awful feeling.

Hugs, Nikko

Dear DiMarie,
I understand about the sleep. I prefer the day time for lots of reasons.
But day work necessitate night sleep of course.
I think you will be ready for work -- even if you have a rough couple of first days from being tired.
And yes, the pdoc should be able to help you get through this patch.

The best thing for me to sleep earlier (before daybreak) is to go outside in the sun -- either sit and read or walk. Yeah, I read that you don't have sun weather yet. You will.

I can see how even though the support group is important, it might wear you down if you are the kind of person who has to help people.
Still if you think it helps more than hurts, maybe you will keep going.

Do what soothes you.
God holds you in the palm of his hand during this terrible time.

M.
