Well I am about to be reviewed at my Job again soon.
So I have been working to improve two/ of the three things that I can change the easiest. The third I'm making progress on, but its going to take another year. Well, hopefully not that long. But its going to be more than the 2 or 3 weeks till my review. 1. I am known for my round about way of writing emails. So I've been really working on this. And as you know I've had many of you help me rewrite some things for others. That have gotten rave reviews. Which I would like to publicly thank everyone here for their help. I think everyone of you. Has given me help with this. 2. My Supervisor has been re writing at least one email a month. I believe for the last Six months. At my request lately she has been reviewing more that I write to the whole group. A. She just reviewed one, that I hadn't even expected her too. I had asked her to review a different one. But she chose one, I would rather she not. But, wow, she found only one really small problem. B. It helped me more than she will ever know. I never understood what a fragmented sentence was. She told me two were fragmented sentences. They looked complete to me. So now I have to find a way to figure out how to change this problem. I am not sure yet. But I'm working on it. So if as a group you can help me, with answers as to how to find answers on fragmented sentences. As to how to fix problems. Or how to find. I just don't understand them. I know I've been written up once, by the Assistant Principal, and I had a parent call on me. But that is not going to be much. I have so much good coming through this year on me. I think I'm going to sound so good. My husband decided last night, our house is making us, the dogs sick. So we have to get started cleaning it up. I agree, but its not that we will probably get started cleaning fast. But its now been told we have too. That is good, I needed him to recognize this. He and Devin are going to work together at a house today. Hopefully get something done. And if he gets a job, maybe he will leave Devin a list to do. Devin is really in trouble again money wise. Ugh, I don't have the money to help, that much. He needs to help him more. Sorry, so long. Donna |

The other project, is the room to be my office.
I'm going to get going on it. After we start working on cleaning, I will finally feel better for it. I think that is half my problem. Donna |

My hubby has to be motivated. He is the major cleaner here.
And that is no small deal. Donna |

,my husband is the big motivator of all talk no do with the household. Between the disability pain, trying to work, I could never have company over right now. A big part is not having space made for a home office. I did get my dil to start helping to organize, dh slept until he heard her leave at 3pm. As far as the fragmented sentences, if you want to get some help in a school type setting, there are college prep classes that provide English, math, etc help before the kids start on the big stuff. Our Local Jr College had one but that is pricey. Found this one dd started... http://www.time4learning.com/elementary-games.shtml I am going to look for the online program my dd had to use when we first started to home school. But, I think if you copy your email to a word.doc like microsoft word, it should have a grammer correction along with the spell check. That program picks up on the structure and even gives alternatives to use. I am the worst person to write, but improved so much when taking a college class. Remember each sentence needs a subject, the the predicate fills in the blanks. Like The raging river went over the banks. If we write , I saw the raging river. It went over its banks. That is two fragments that could be one sentence. Just because there is a pause when reading it, will not need a period, but a , instead. Reading outloud what we write is a pain, but if your reading it and it sounds broken or not a smooth flow, try to restructure the sentence. Now math on the other hand....I could never improve in. Can not even get the concept to help dd with her school work. let me go search for that site. di

You are wonderful. But the microsoft programs that I have don't give you examples of fragments. Just that they are fragments. heehee, Well gosh I know they are. What can I change them too. Donna |

Dear Donna, There might be some free GED-type classes on line or in your community. You could also consider finding someone in your neighborhood who is good at teaching writing and offer to trade them time. They tutor writing for two hours and you babysit their child two hours a week or something similar. Perhaps you can find a GED workbook that you and the tutor can do together. Also, generally, the more reading people do, the better they become at writing. Do you read your local newspaper or online sites? Books? There are free sites on line but you probably would do better with one on one tutoring. My understanding of fragment problems is that they are usually corrected by studying the conventions (rules) of punctuation. M |

Thanks Waves.
The thing is if I was going to learn with tutoring or classes. When I took the college classes in English and many other for my degree years ago. You would have thought I would have figured it out. But either way, I have not the time for another lesson session. Right now. So I'll have to work on figuring it out on my own. Donna |
