Default Derrick, got bite by a cat at the humane society today

I feel so helpless. I don't know how to help him.

He got bit by a cat, and he is in pain. They cleaned the bites up,
and the scratches. And now its been about 8 years.

And his hand in a area very close to some of the bite mores is
swelling up. And now its got a red streak or did. I'm not sure
what to think. I saw the red bites they look okay.

But I'm worried about the red marks on his wrist, and it was turning.
Red, he came down after about 20 to 30 minutes and the ice and
the cover were too cold for him to sleep with.

So he put the ice up, and took the towel with him. So hopefully
he is asleep.

Dear Donna,
I hope he is ok.
If he feels funny or his hand does not look right, in the morning go directly to the ER.

Heart call doctor - be safe

Dear Donna

sorry Derrick was bitten by a cat! if he drew blood you should call your doctor. he may want to see you right away, in a few days or at least have questions about the wound.

this site gives information on how to care for such a wound, and also says to call the doctor always, in case of a cat bite.

FamilyDoctor.org - Cat and dog bites

Quote:
Call your doctor in any of these situations:
  • You have a cat bite. Cat bites often cause infection. You don't need to call your doctor for a cat scratch, unless you think the wound is infected.
    ...
  • You have any signs of infection, such as redness, swelling, warmth, increased tenderness, oozing of pus from the wound or a fever.
    ...
  • Your last tetanus shot (vaccine) was more than 5 years ago. (If so, you may need a booster shot.)
  • You were bitten by a wild animal or a domestic animal (such as a pet) of unknown immunization status.
i hope the wound looks better in the morning.

(((hugs))) to you and to Derrick too.

Waves

I would have taken him to the ER, but the Humane Society was were it happened. And they cleaned it and thought it was fine. But if it gets worse he will go.

He has been fine at school today. Or as far as I know.

I was there are noon, for his conference, which didn't go well. We will see
what happens. I'm not happy, I just may be writing a complaint yet.

I'm trying to decide if I have grounds on some of it.

Default Hi dmom

If your guts say the bite marks don't look good. call your doctor. Cats can and do give "cat sctatch fever" which can be serious. Sorry that happened to him. ginnie

Think everyone at the humane shelter was happy to see him yesterday.

And the bites are pretty good.

So we are off for another week. Next week is a good week, two days
in Indy doing a conference, that Derrick is going with me.

Should be lots of fun.
