Question Chest pains? May be muscle from exertion. Is Aspirin helpful?

Hi,

I moved a lot of books today.

I can't tell what is going on in my chest. It feels like anxiety. I took 0.5 Klonopin two hours ago. It's not anxiety.

I think I can take my regular meds and take two 325 aspirin.

Mari

I think it should be okay. But I can't tell you for sure. But if you feel its
something else. Please get to ER okay.

Exclamation welll.... after my experiences....

here, the cardio told me if i ever have problems and i'm not sure, to go to ER so they can run an EKG on the spot. my stupid GP when i had the second episode that was more distinct, also said they do a blood draw - it's true... they do that to check for a protein that is released by the heart muscle, to detect whether or not you are having a heart attack, but the protein doesn't stick around for that long (i think up to 48 hours).

all sorts of muscles can cause chest pain, from the pects which are more obvious (external), to intercostal muscles. the latter are pretty pesky if you are not used to using them. it could feel like anxiety ... they are the muscles that get used when you sing... controlling the breath in a certain way uses them. so i think anxious breathing might tire them out too. i notice when i am out of vocal practice and then overdo it, then they hurt. but they can hurt from exertion due to other things too.

try gently exploring/massaging the area that hurts... see if it is between-rib areas. if it is, gentle massage and warmth should help some. and no more book-lifting.

the aspirin might help. but not just as a painkiller. go to ER if you have any shred of concern. because there won't be a way to know afterwards if there is a mild cardiac event going on. only way to know is get tested during symptoms.

Default Thank you.

Hi. Thank you very much for you observations and input.
My sister talked me down a little bit.

See above for the closest I can find to illustrate was I was doing. I was standing upright (not leaning like the guys in the photo.)

I was dragging a huge recycle bin full of books. The bin had two front wheels and a handle. My hands were behind my back. Thus my chest muscles were engaged.

The ER will keep me for 24 hours for three blood draws eight hours a part.. That is a huge amount of money. If I don't feel well in the morning, I will cancel work meetings and go to Urgent Care. Promise.

Waves,

I have a heating pad in a closet somewhere. I can try that with some massage.

Thank you.

Mari

Wow, if your ER would keep anyone with those symptoms. Then that
is great.

And no I'm not saying you should go.

Its more that I have a friend that I just learned went to our ER just
recently and they didn't do most of what they were supposed to.

And even what she requested. She is a nurse and knew what they
should do. I believe it was the blood draw she was talking about.
That they would not do. And they didn't if I remember right
do the ekg. But She luckily has been to her own doctor. And I
believe she/he is sending her to a cardio.

But its scary, when I hear this. This is the hospital I usually trust
the most.

I think that the total effect of exertion comes the nest day so you may experience even more discomfort around the time to even later than when you did the work. So don't be surprised.
