Default Epilepsy

Hey everyone!
I'm new here and I'm in kind of a loner position. I've had epilepsy since I was 12, well at least that's when I was diagnosed. I don't know anyone with the same type of epilepsy as me, so I have a hard time talking about it with people because nobody fully understands. I'm 21, outgoing, and have lots of friends and would love to have a friend I can relate to on this topic. If anyone is willing to be a friend and share stories or concerns with me, that would be awesome!
Thanks

Dear JME

Welcome to the Bipolar Forum and to Neurotalk in general.

I hope you find folks here who can relate to your specific experience.
I know you will find good support here.

In case you did not see my other reply to you (Introductions/New Members forum), i shall repeat some of what i said... starting with inviting you to visit our Epilepsy Forum here at Neurotalk. To visit it, click on this the link:
Epilepsy Forum
There may be folks there who can relate to your specific condition. it is a forum with only moderate activity, so you might have to be a bit patient in regard to timeliness of response.

You are welcome to continue posting here in the Bipolar forum as well. While i do not have epilepsy personally, i do know a good bit about it, partly from reading and partly from participation in another epilepsy forum at one time. We also have other members in this forum that have family with epilepsy.

Added to that, those with bipolar and epilepsy do face some common symptoms and certainly some common difficulties. Furthermore, many treatments used in Epilepsy (AEDs, i.e. Anti-Epileptic Drugs) are used as mood stabilizers in Bipolar, so that is another common element.

Fnally, although we of this forum may not be experts in epilepsy, we have good listeners, and it is quite an active forum. So do please feel welcome to continue posting here. We can help you work through tough times.

-------------------------------

Would you like to tell us a bit more about yourself and in particular about your condition... Have you been given a diagnostic name for the type of epilepsy you have? If not, would you share what your experience is like?

(((hugs)))

Hi JME

I am Donna, and I'm the parent of Derrick who is 20 and has epilepsy.

He has had it since he was 6 or 7. So I do know quite a bit about
epilepsy. If I take a guess, and I could be wrong, but are your initials
here the initials of your epilepsy. I believe there is one form with
at least partially these initials.

But I agree with Waves, please give us some more information.

I would be happy to converse with you about epilepsy, or any other
issues. This is a great forum for many issues. So please share
what your comfortable with sharing.

Donna
