Default Stupid Pharmacies in Florida not allowing people emergency meds

Hi,

Some Florida pharmacies were not allowing people to get extra medications so that they could stock up before the storm it.

Duh.

The FL governor declared a state of emergency for that very reason --- the declaration allows medicaiton to be stocked up ahead of time.

Question

Is it the pharmacies themselves....or the insurance companies
refusing to pay the early extra refill?

I could see controlled substances being problematic....but calling the doctor for an "emergency" supply would simply solve that problem.

But the insurance companies are another big hurtle. People may have to pay cash for early refills if that is the issue.

We live in a very controlled time ... nothing is simple anymore, it seems.

I sincerely hope that everyone is safe and not in the path of harm.

“We’re making sure the private sector is doing what they can in the coming days, and we’re continuing to ramp up supplies,” Koon said.

The Florida Retail Federation also distributed information to pharmacies around the state about Gov. Rick Scott’s emergency declaration, issued Saturday. Among many provisions, the declaration allows prescription medication to be stocked up ahead of time in preparation for the storm.

“We had some pharmacies that weren’t giving those people their pharmaceuticals, so we’re addressing that,” Koon said.

Wow, I didn't know that this was possible.

So I'm interested in how this plays out.

But lots of my meds are mail orders and that is a bigger problem.

What would happen if I couldn't get to the post office to pick mine
up.

If I were due to get a 3 month supply in the mail.

Wow,

Donna

Hey Mari I didn't see this thread until this morning. I have a emergency supply of medication with silica gel packs to keep the medications dry.

I have been concerned about this for years. If there where a national disaster, and we run out of medicine at the time of the disaster, what would we do? If I'm out of medicine when a emergency happens,I will still have enough for at least 30 days. Can you imagine going through a emergency without your medications.

I've asked mental health professionals about this concern, and I never get a answer that will help. BF

Trig

There are to many Nuclear power plants, submarines, and other military uses of it that I'm worried that there could be another possible disaster.

The Japanese power plants spewed allot of radiation into the air. That's on top of the Chernobyl accident. Some of those radiations won't break down for over a thousand years.

I live near the epicenter of that ground where the earthquakes where. There's a nuclear power plant there. I mean really. No danger. Bull. I bought a geiger- counter, and check Radiation Network allot. There is still a higher amount of radioactivity around the coast, near Pennsylvania. That's down stream from 3 Mile Island. They are going to shut down the last remaining reactor April 1st,2013,or 2014 at 3 Mile Island. Many young, and elderly died the first 2 years after the accident near 3 Mile Island.

This may sound wacky, but I'm worried about global radiation. I've heard some really scary things about the radiation that has gone into the atmosphere.

All it takes is a small amount of plutonium to go into your lungs, and it will cause cancer within 2,to 60 years. That scares me. BF

This may be a phobia. I may not be rational in the above two posts. I can delete them if I have alarmed anyone. BF
