Thumbs down APS came and...........................

Adult Protective Services real nice lady came. She isn't allowed to tell my mom who made the report on her, which was a life saver for me.

At this point, everything is voluntary as far as my mom going anywhere. Since she has all her facilities when sober, and she was sober.

I did pour out all the booze in the house, I did not announce it, so I think if she looks for it, she will just think she drank it all.

She was also told that IF I BUY it for her, that I am the one that could end up in trouble (like jail-manslaughter) if something was to happen to her due to alcohol. Which the lady told me isn't really true, but it makes my mom think. She was told with all the meds she is on, she could just go to sleep if drinking and die.

She said then she will move, I doubt that she wouldn't know where to begin. Or she will go and get it for herself. I can't see her doing that, but you never know.

My mom did say she wanted to find something to occupy her time.

She doesn't want to go to a therapist, nor go into a facility for depression and or detox or assisted living. I am getting a list of Doctor's that deal with gereatrics, which will probably be much better than her regular PCP.

It comes down to the fact that she knows right from wrong.

Now this APS keeps a check, which is good and I can call anytime, and they will visit time to time.

I wish I had better news. Now my plan is to try and ride this lease out, give myself time to save money and then move. Then she will HAVE to either stay here by herself or move.

I don't know, I guess I did what I could, I wish she had agreed to something, but that wasn't what happened.

Hugs, Nikko

Sometimes it is very frustrating to help people who don't want help.

GOD, I wish I could just hold you right now and let you cry, scream, laugh, buy you ice cream. Something.

Oh baby-love. It's gonna work out. Stick to your guns, get out of the lease and move forward with your life once again.

You can do this.

Thanks.....I sure will stick to my guns, it the only way to survive this.

She can kick, scream and call me names, but I will NOT buy her any alcohol.

Darn I was hoping for more for you, but it could have gone worse I suppose. Too bad she didn't agree to something, hopefully things will improve with her NOT drinking anymore. We're all pulling for you Nikko.

Nikko,

One of these days things are going to work out for us both. We've got to keep plugging along.

N- not exactly what you were hoping would come out of this meeting, but, sadly, thatt's what happens when people can act totally normal when not on alcohol (or drugs)...if only they could stay 'normal' all the time.

At least now you have someone you can call, and also they support you in not buying her the booze, which should make your Mom think...

It's back to 'wait and see', I guess

Higs, Jacquie

nikko, this is just the first visit. your mom will be on their radar now.

you are doing what is best for both of you. i am very very proud of you. i know these have been some really tough choices to make.

let her kick and scream...if neighbors call about the fuss...you just give the police the caseworkers name and number.

stay strong. we are here for you.
