Trig Good news, bad news.....

Possible trigger...talk of suicide...

It seems my daughter can't catch a break. The good news - she woke up this morning and she found she had gotten her period. Can't tell you how relieved I was, and she was too, I could tell, tho she didn't say it in so many words. She did say that now she can call her OB/GYN and arrange to get her shot now, as soon as possible. Crisis averted, thank God.

Now the bad news. She received a text message from an acquaintance today, informing her that a mutual friend, who has been living in Florida recently, had committed suicide. He was about her age, and had actually stayed with us for several months in 2003. A nice kid, but got into drugs and alcohol. He also had several family members - his Dad, his Aunt, and a cousin - who had also taken their lives. What a shame. She found out that he was messed up on drugs and alcohol, and he hung himself. She was pretty upset for awhile, then decided to call a friend, and she went and spent the day w/ her and her 2 y.o. daughter. This girl says she's so short on cash that she gets her daughter her toys by getting them out of people's trash. Isn't that awful? She is my daughter's age, and she confided in her that she should have had an abortion when she found out she was pregnant, because she wasn't ready to be a mother, and she's not even ready now, 2 yrs later. Sad, isn't it? I hope it made my own daughter think and be grateful that she isn't pregnant, after all.

Well, it's Sunday night. Work tomorrow. I hope I won't be in too much pain. The weather is again going to be beautiful.

Have a great week, everyone!

Hi, ((((((Jacquie)))))),

I'm glad that you daughter's not pregnant. The time's just not right for that.

I'm sorry, though, that she seems to have so much loss and sense of failure around her.

Don't you sometimes just wish that there were a way for you to transfuse your knowledge into your child so that they didn't have to go through all this stuff again

A good resource for understanding losses of every kind are the books by Rabbi Earl A. Grollman.

I hope that your daughter realizes that even though she's been going through 7734, her steps are being guided. She needs to pay attention to where she's going so that she can use this knowledge that she's paid such a high price to obtain.

Bless you all. BIG HUGS (and love).

Barb

PS: I'm going to the beach tomorrow. Wish you could come too. Across the street from here: http://www.theredparrot.com/index.htm. Isn't it beautiful!!

Exclamation Jacquie

Jacquie,
If your daughters friend can use some toys and clothes I have a ton that were going to Salvation army as I am not up to a yard sale. I would gladly love to see them go to someone that would find good use for them. Is that gal close enough if I mail or UPS to you the daughter can deliver? It is worth the cost to find them a great place and child to wear them.

LEt me know,
di

i'm glad the crisis was averted.

i am sorry your daughter lost a friend. i agree with bizi, there must be something in the medical history of the family. i hope they check into this to protect future generations.

Thanks for your replies and words of support. One thing I neglected to tell you all - this guy's Aunt, who also hung herself like 5 yrs ago, was the Mother of, at the time, a good friend of my dtr's - the 2 girls even went down to Florida, where she had moved, to stay w/ this Mom when Andrea was @ 18. Andrea considered her , "my second Mother", as they had good times together. Unfortunately, those good times consisted mainly of drinking and getting high - not exactly setting a good example there - but I guess she considered her the FUN Mom .

Di, it would be great we can collaborate and have you send me stuff for this little girl - she's going to be 3 already! I will PM you as soon as I have a chance! You're an angel for offering!

Break's over- more later!

Hugs, Jacquie
