Default From WebMD: Black Tea May Soothe Stress

Hi,

On work mornings, I drink breakfast tea with two tea bags. Sometimes when I am in a rush, I add lukewarm water to cool it down.
The warmth soothes me and maybe the caffeine wakes me up a bit.

Drinking Black Tea May Soothe Stress:
Old-Fashioned Black Tea May Help People Recover From Everyday Stress

Quote:
"Our study suggests that drinking black tea may speed up our recovery from the daily stresses in life. Although it does not appear to reduce the actual levels of stress we experience, tea does seem to have a greater effect in bringing stress hormone levels back to normal," says researcher Andrew Steptoe, of the University College London, in a news release.
Quote:
Steptoe says they don't know exactly which ingredients in black tea were responsible for these effects on stress recovery and relaxation. But tea is rich in many candidates, such as catechins, polyphenols, flavonoids, and amino acids, which are under investigation for a variety of healthy benefits.

Their results appear in the journal Psychopharmacology.

Thumbs Up

Thanks Mari for posting this. KT and I are tea lovers. We have tons of loose types. Love my breakfast tea, but after dinner relaxing with a cup is a real experience. KT evens orders tea with her meal when we are out, or vacationing. Her fav spot on the cruise was the tea spot.

Last week she traveled with me to work in Scranton to have Bubble tea, a Thai lunch stop had a great one. On the other hand, the place called the Bubble Tea House had cheap version. Not the real brown tapioca pearls. They did not have black tea made, they had green tea and she got strawberry flav. No smoothie effect, more like kool aide.
