Thumbs up Unfriending and Blocking on Facebook

Hi,

I have been aggressive about unfriending people on facebook.

1 One cousin complains too much and usually about other people. --- She is deleted and blocked.

2 A spouse of a cousin is defriended because he is close to crazy in his politics and I fought very hard for the opposite side in the last election.

3 A first cousin tonight is bitching about his state government in the winter storm in a way that shows he supports the party I dislike.

Unfriended
AND
Blocked

They are blocked because I do not want Facebook's algorithm to suggest them to me again.

I kicked some butttt.
My friends are dwindling. I am happy.

I unfriended a fellow employee from the past, because of the nature of his subjects, and discussions, and then his whole family unfriended me. That's OK,because we didn't have anything in common. BF

I had to unfriend and block some folks that were messaging me really weird
messages. And not just one or two. But maybe 15 to 20 a day.

The only way I could stop them was to block so I did. I had tried other
things it just didn't work.

I also had someone trying to start a war with family members.
It took a lot of time but we even found out who it was. They all
had already been unfriended and blocked on Facebook.

I am a friendly and nice person on facebook, you don't treat me that
way. I don't tolerate it.

I love new friends, but they have to be nice too.

My handle is Donna Roberts and i'm from oxford, Indiana. Since there
are so many of us. If anyone wants a new friend.

Thumbs up Another one bites the dust!

Hi,

An Aunt likes to post pictures of abandoned animals.
Apparently she wants people to get upset and do something about the picture she posted today..

1 I am not upset
2 I did something

Unfriended
AND
Blocked

Bizi,

Instead of de-friendeding her, you can just hide her posts. That way you will not see her posts.

I have people on facebook who I've hidden because of the abused animal photos they've posted. It's upsetting to see things like that. BUT relieving to hide it from future view. I am glad you did all this Mari, I am sure it will give you some peace.

Cool I don't do Facebook. It sounds like a major source of effort & frustration.

I still don't understand what people see in facebook. When it first became all the rave, I was curious about it, and occasionally tempted. I've been asked and even cajoled about joining. However I prefer to keep my social presence on the www anonymous, and I can't see having RL friends or family call me by a handle. I think it would be confusing to have multiple accounts - I wouldn't be able to tell my elbow from my rear end any more.

Furthermore, as the years have gone by, my curiousity has only been replaced by near-aversion. I hardly ever hear about good experiences on facebook. At most, I might hear about a "useful" communication - that could easily have been sent via email, even to multiple people.

To the contrary, I hear increasing numbers of people hurt, confused, angry, offended, upset over something that happened on facebook. I hear about people getting abused or insulted, friending and unfriending (expectedly or unexpectedly), blocking etc, and misunderstandings etc ... all on facebook. We won't talk about the odd occasion when accounts get broken into - happened to Lil' Monkey (Curious' daughter - it was disastrous!)

I can still somewhat appreciate the use of it to keep in touch with a limited circle, say family, but even then, there seems to be drama. I just don't get it. I fail to see the positives in it.

I know there are games, but i have no lack of free games. And if we want to talk about that then let's talk about internet addiction... oh there's a good thing!

So my solution is not friending unfriending or blocking or hiding. My own personal (perhaps antiquated) solution is ...

... I DON'T DO FACEBOOK! HA!
