Lightbulb Curative spiced tea / hot spiced lemonade

Spiced tea / hot spiced lemonade

This recipe makes a single serving, of about 10 oz.

Properties: balsamic, antimicrobial, antiviral, antibacterial.
Indications: Useful for upper respiratory afflictions. (I recommend 3 servings per day: morning, afternoon, evening.)

Ingredients - spices
  • cloves - 3-4
  • ginger - 4 -5 fine (1mm) slices of fresh ginger root, (peeled if golden brown kind, unpeeled ok if "young" pink translucent kind) OR at least 1/4 tsp dried pre-ground (more ok, to taste)
  • cardamom - 3 pods, pod and inner membrane removed, sticky seeds separated from each other.
  • coriander 7-8 seeds hand-crushed, OR about a half-tsp pre-ground

Ingredients - other
  • honey - about 2 tsp or to taste - drink should be somewhat sweet
  • lemon - 1/4 large or 1/3 small.
  • tea or herbal infusion - optional

Below are long (decoction) and short (brewing) method directions. I often use the quick method, using just ginger/cardamom, ginger/cloves, and powdered ginger which is no fuss. However, if one has the wherewithall for it, I recommend using the decoction as it draws out the curative oils in the spices to a greater extent.

___________________________________________

Directions - long method (decoction):

Place 8 oz of water and the spices into a small pan or heatable cup. Bring to a boil, then allow to simmer covered for 10-15 minutes.

Strain the decoction into a large drinking mug. If using fresh ginger slices, you may transfer that back into your drink, and eat it afterwards, for additional curative benefit.

If using tea or an infusion, add it now and steep coveredfor the usual time or a little less.

Add honey and stir until dissolved.

At this point, squeeze lemon into the drink, using the strainer to avoid the seeds. You may drop the squeezed lemon into the drink for the beneficial oils in the peel.

___________________________________________

Directions - quick method:

Dump all the spices into a 10-12 oz mug. Boil water and pour it over the spices. Add tea or herbal infusion and steep covered. Allow the spices to steep an additional 5 minutes covered.

Continue with the addition of honey first, then lemon as indicated in the directions above.

___________________________________________

While drinking, inhale the vapors as as they contain curative and balsamic essential oils especially useful for upper respiratory afflictions.
