Hi,
I saw this on Slate.com and liked the graphics so I am sharing. Don’t Hit the Snooze Button (2:20 minutes) http://www.slate.com/blogs/browbeat/..._explains.html The body begins preparing an hour before you naturally wake up . . .. . . .temperature becomes higher . . . .. . . . hormones such as dopamaine and cortisol are released, . . . . =========== . . . this groggy and tired state is known as Sleep Inertia . . . . . . Fragmented sleep is less restorative . . . . ============= My sleep doc has explained this. So has pdoc. But I have NEVER used a snooze alarm. Those are against nature!!!! One time I had to room with some one for a few days in college who used a snooze alarm. I am really suprised that I allowed her to live (that was back in the day when I was strong, capable of anger, and impulsive). M |

Thank you, Mari,
that was interesting! I think apart from gravitating towards night-wakefulness, my body also has a natural 25(ish?) circadian rhythm. Whenever I reset my schedule and attempt to get up/go to sleep the same time each night i end up going to bed later and later and accordingly waking up later and later and later. Even though i feel more comfortable being awake at night... my sleep is never 100% stable. ~ waves ~ |
