While interest rates are low we are going to refinance the house. It will be an opportunity to pull some of the equity out of the house to do some fixing up that we have been procrastinating. The rate will be from 2.5-3.0%, ours is 4.375 right now. I am so excited, I have not even talked to jeff about this just yet. (The remodeling that is), he knew that I was trying to refinance the loan. We will have our local bank service the loan so no more waiting on the end of a phone line for ever and talking to a different person each time.
New windows would help with heating and cooling costs. Jeff has wanted a new bathroom since we bought the house 11 years ago. WE would like to get rid of the carpet in the bed rooms and have laminate floors thru out the house.....maybe a new kitchen?

We are re-financing too. Tomorrow / Thursday we have to go to the bank to sign the documents. Our rate is in the same range as yours.
It is a lot of paper work to go through this. (A huge hassle.) Hubby was "happy" to do it because it was part of his weird OCD.
We did not take any equity out, but maybe we do not have any as we only bought the place 4 years ago.

You would love the new windows. They will be quieter and safer for hurricanes. When we moved in we bought new windows and doors that are up to the hurricane codes for our part of the state.

how did it go at the bank? Was your hand tired of signing all of the paperwork?

Bizi,

We had a lawyer look at the documents a few days ago so I did not have to pay attention to what we were signing (Thank goodness because I was sleepy.)

It went fine. We were there an hour.
There were a couple of last minute things that they needed. . . .. Like they realized that they were missing a certain form that they had to create for one of the signatures. . . . .
They asked our anniversary and neither Hubby nor I knew it. I had to call Mom because her anniversary is the same as ours.
One change had been made since the lawyer looked at the documents, so I asked ONE question and that took up some time because they had to go back and look at some numbers.
