Donna,
It feels so good to clean out in our home and body. Refreshing to know you have a fresh reat state for life. I am lad you have Derrik as a helper and wish I had 6 of him too. I really get no support to get chores or extra things done.

I am having a really rough day with my neck and head. I have been having headache's that go with this. I finally figured out that its turned from migraine to this. I'm working to make it relax. So its somewhat working.

I also bought myself thanks to help from my husband with money a new computer. I just couldn't live with only the work computer. So I really love my new Dell computer. I just have to learn to use the new programming 8 which of course I've forgotten the name of.

This memory problem is big again.
Ugh, but the meds are working.

Also I had forgotten, that I am supposed to be taking singular, so its been reordered and as soon as it gets here. I will start taking it.

And my allergist/asthma doctor gave me a script for a new nebulizer for my broken one. So I can now get it replaced.

I just have to get more proactive on these things. I was afraid he wouldn't do it. So didn't want to ask. But the inhaler wasn't working when I was coughing it right back up.

Hi, Donna,

I hope you feel better.

Good luck with Windows 8. As you use it, you will feel more comfortable with it.

Heart Hi Donna

Hi Donna,

Sorry to hear about the evil headaches. I can relate ... I had a nasty one today and I don't think it was a migraine. I'm not really sure what it was. Nothing worked. I tried a Zomig (but not soon enough, so no telling), aspirin, self massage, ice on the head ... all in vain. I finally took 75mg tramadol this evening which took it down to a tolerable level but did not nix it.

But, I digress.

If I understand you correctly, you suspect these recent headaches to be tension-type? Is that right?

Along those lines, I wanted to share something with you. Some time ago, I read that tension is found in a significant proportion of migraines. Now, I had observed that some headaches of mine I knew to be migraine had been preceded and accompanied by tension (neck, shoulder, base of head). I had always assumed those were tension and not migraine headaches. I also had other headaches about which I was uncertain, because they did not have the throbbing quality typical of migraines, even though I routinely wound up with photosensitivity, phonosensitivity, and sometimes nausea.

Well, here's the deal, after I read about tension being present in migraines, I decided to try taking Zomig as soon as I started feeling significant tension, with at most a hint of headache. Result: The tension would dissipate! I believe I have nipped many headaches in the bud this way.

I still don't really know whether
-- these are actually migraines where tension is a pilot sign
-- these are mixed headaches
-- these are tension headaches

What I do know is, WHATEVER they are:

The TRIPTAN WILL ABORT THEM completely, and treat the tension!!!

I just thought I'd share. I figure, if you haven't tried using your Imitrex when it "seems like" a tension headache... you might consider trying it a few times to see what happens.

BTW, I have noticed that with these kinds of headaches the window of opportunity is perhaps even more essential than with a typical migraine: the triptan only works if I take it right at onset, before the headache builds. After that, it is practically worthless.

Of course, I am not sure to what degree our symptoms correspond, so you will have to be the judge. Feel free to ask if you have other questions about my sx. Or you may have tried your Imitrex already. I just thought I'd share, in case my observations could be helpful.

I hope you are successful in finding reliable ways to feel better.

May I ask what methods you are using to help relax? Perhaps they could be helpful to me... Thanks in advance.

Waves

I did use the imitrex this morning. It helped a little. I also had tension in some parts of my neck. So I was using massage, that was deep pressure I believe, as strong a hold as I could manage. Then on the other side. I was then finding that I had rolling muscles so I was trying to get those.

So I kept working with them. I could tell that I was getting them. It helped a lot. So it just was working real well. I then usually use heat from a heating
pad.

I lay down too. Some times I take a nap if I get really relaxed.

I am trying to get back to the point I can get a massage again.

Hi again, Donna,

I am glad to hear that the self-massage is successful. Interesting about the Imitrex. I don't know how soon you took it and whether sooner might have helped more. However it does sound like there's a distinct tension component in your case since you have the rolling muscles and since massage helps. I am glad you are able to get relief that way. I hope you get to have a professional massage soon - that will be awesome!

Massage does not seem to help me. Sometimes it can actually make things worse. I have not had the rolling muscles - mine just feel like the meat got temporarily replaced by steel sculptures. I wonder if the rolling thing is fibro-related somehow.

I do nap too if I can. I have found that sleep helps with any sort of headache whatsoever.

Now, I have not tried a heating pad. Closest I have is a hot-water bottle - I will try that next time I get one of these maybe-tension-migraine-hybrid things that is resistant to everything. I really appreciate the tip. It is easy enough to do, but I had not thought of it, LOL!

Thanks so much for sharing.

========================

I am glad you will be able to get a new nebulizer and I hope your allergies get under control quickly. Mine have started to act up just recently too. I am ok though - I am using my oral antihistamine in double doses.

========================

Congratulations on your new Dell - they are great machines! I hope you get comfy with Win 8 soon enough.

hi donna.
We have windows 8 and we like it so far. I could not figure out how to get it started and had to ask a friend who said bring your cursor up to the far right corner then they appeared, the icons for a start menu etc.
hope you get used to yours soon!

Hi everyone.

I'm getting used to the computer. I like the screen so much better. That I am having trouble going back to my work one. But oh well, it will happen on Monday. Heehee.

My husband and I went to a friends cookout on Saturday and had a good time.
