I would like to add my "two cents" for what its worth.

I personally have experience with seeing someone have the lamictal
lost memory problem. I can't remember how much of it you take?
For Derrick just to taper down, made a world of difference.

When we started to work to take him off the lamictal to switch to
zonegran. And no I am not suggesting you switch. He needed to
because of seizures. A different reason.

We tapered a very low amount at a time. But I have to admit, we
saw a difference in his memory and some other things. Almost immediately.

So I would agree with Waves to reduce the lamictal first.

Of course you are right waves.
I am not stable at this time.
I do need to have more time AF under my belt.
I need to pay more attention to my computer usage.
I need to find other activities besides the computer.
I think that the inservice that I went to about the man with schzophrenia and cured himself with talk therapy and got off his meds was so interesting. I wanted to be like him. I would increase my therapy visits and taper off of my meds one at a time.
thank you for being my friend and for being so honest with me.
love you too

You might find this thread enlightening -- it is one you posted in 2010, three years ago:

I drink too much....

OK. I thought you started Lamictal with the Geodon but clearly I am confused about the details of our conversation. It will be like a needle in a haystack to find, so may I just ask:

Have you ever taken Lamictal by itself, without any other mood stabilizer?

(By "mood stabilizer" I am referring to any drug with that indication, lithium, AEDs and antipsychotic class drugs being the most common types.)

no I believe that I started taking geodon when I took lamictal, but am not certain about that. I took geodon when I was taking trileptal but became toxic on that and we switched to lamictal.
I know that I used to take it at a lower dose and increased over the years due to increased stressful situations that I was dealing with the past few years. Those stressors have greatly diminished....have resolved the conflicts.
We have lived here for about 12 years... alot has happened and I don't recall the time lines and such. I know each time I was hospitalized in the past it was from being put on an antidepressant. and from high stress. and the first episode was from a depoprevera birth control shot. this last episode was from( i believe) my drinking so much that it interferred with my medications.
that is interesting that i said I was drinking too much in 2010.

Default Bizi

I think one of the problems with bipolar patients is that we start to feel better due to out Meds and then we want to get off our Meds because we feel good. We get off our Meds and it all goes downhill because we don't have the tools that made us better...wordy, I know.

You are wise Bizi to put it all out there and accept the intelligent and honest feed back and take heed to it to. If you don't know what to do, they say don't do anything at all. You are doing great.
