My computer in making a irregular noise. It's a spinning noise that increases, and decreases. If I go ((off the air)) for awhile,it will be that the computer went out on me.
I hope that it re adjusts. I hope that it settles down. It may be a fan,or disk. BF |

If it is not covered by any warranty anymore-
You can look up how to clean the fan & internal parts, it isn't hard to do, but easier if you look up How to do it online- than if I try to type it out.. there are videos on youtube of how to do it too. If you have pets or even carpet near the computer- the hair, lint & extra dust can wrap or stick to the inside parts. If the noise is due to dust/dirt , lint it will quiet down after cleaning, and if not then it might be the hard drive making the noises. or the fan bearings going out. Sometimes if you can listen carefully you can pinpoint what area it is coming from. then open the case if desktop (de static yourself) and see what is in that location of the noise. Or you can Google images on that brand/make/model to find internal images that might help you to figure out what might be the noise maker location, if you don't want to open anything up.

bizi,
usually you can pull the card out of the camera if you have a slot on the computer that it will fit into. laptops usually have them on the sides somewhere. or a cord with connectors computer USB on one end & connects to camera on the other end.. then it might pop up a screen on the computer automatically and then you click which ones to transfer and where they should go etc.. or you might have a program on the computer - with the camera brand name - Kodak , Canon, etc that you open and it helps you do it.. Or look up videos on how to do it, it isn't hard once you figure it out and do it a time or two. Unless it is a weird camera or computer set up (my disclaimer LOL)

thanks jomar,
I have a card reader that i sitck the card into it then than jumpdrive goes into my port on the computer. real simple. it is the actual moving of the pictures from the folders to my desk top that is frustrating me. jeff just dragged them off the page to my desk top. I just need to work with it some more, maybe I will do that tomorrow. bizi

Jeff sounds like he's handy to have around. I think that one of the two fans in the back of my computer is either affected by dust,or it's possibly going bad.
I worked on the dust inside the computer again, but the lower fan is still fluttering. Thanks for all of the help, and recommendations. It's much appreciated. Thank you Jo*mar. BF |

BF, I am not very computer savvy and the thought of dismantling my computer is daunting. I am sorry you are having issues with yours and I hope it sorts itself out. From seeing you on the sight, I know you use it regularly. I hope you have a good day BF

Thank you TBI/PTSD. The next thing I'm going to try is to put a little oil around where the fan in question rotates.
I've vacuumed it,and I have also used an electronic duster, that works like a can of compressed air blowing air out of a small straw. I hope that I'm making some progress. Thanks. BF |

Steve,
It sounds like you've narrowed it down to one particular fan... that's good! Did you remove the fan from the machine when you cleaned it? Vacuuming/cleaning from outside may not work. The dirt really clings. ------------------------ What is your reasoning about using oil around the fan area? I have some concerns with that: 1. Getting oil on machine components will leave them vulnerable to dirt which will accumulate and make black goo. 2. If the fan itself is making the noise, oil around it will not help unless you get it right into the fan spindle and nowhere else and that is an iffy proposition. The best thing to do then is probably to replace the fan (cheap, easy). 3. The sound can also be d/t vibrations between the fan and machine casing, if any screws have come loose. In that case, oil would not help anywhere. Replace the screws or try using little plastic seals with the screws. Good luck! waves Last edited by waves; 10-26-2013 at 05:15 PM. |

IT at work had me turn off my computer and use one of the air cans on it. Let it dry 24 hrs. I have Verizon phone and for $5.99 a month there was coverage for all my computers. It cost $75 copay, I didn't know about, but they sent me a box to ship the laptop t them for repair, or replacement. I had five years on the warranty, but forgot to send it for repair when I called them....they would take care of it after not receiving before the exp date.ugh I was made at myself. The thing kept overheating.....but, I have the box and sending it to the ompany the warranty is with for Verizon. See how it goes. I hope it starts working okay. Hugs Di
