Unhappy Sleepless again....

Do any of you take lunesta or ambien for sleep.
Please tell me how it is going for you.
Has it worn off and have had to switch?
I am so frustrated.
Was on lunesta for a year then that quit working.
then took ambien for a year then that stopped working now am switching back to lunesta works a couple of days then did not last night.
I am sick of this...ambien is the strongest sleeping pill that I know of...
Seroquel congested me and trazodone and melatonin and benadryl did not work....even the klonipin stopped helping.

I know that alot of you guys have difficulty sleeping....
and that this is not a new topic...just venting and seeking others experiences...

I wish that I had some ideas of what you could try, but melatonin works for me, and I also take elavil for help sleeping, 100 mgs. Have you ever been on it before bizi? Maybe it would help? My pain management doctor is the one who rx'd it for me and it's as good to me as the melatonin is. Sleeping is so important for our health that when we have trouble with it we naturally feel like heck. I hope you can get some good rest tonight. Maybe you could get some natural sunlight? I know that it is known to help regulate sleep, maybe getting an hour of sunlight today might help you sleep better tonight? I wish I had the answer for you, but I have never taken ambien or lunesta so I wouldn't know how well those work. Hope you can sleep tonight bizi.

Hi,
Sorry you aren't sleeping, I know how that is. I take Trazadone with Klonapin at night and it works, I may still wake up once or twice, but usually it works pretty well. Its the only combo that works for me.

Besides I take all my meds at night, so that includes the Cymbalta and Lamictal.

I hope you can get something new to help you sleep.

Hugs, Nikko

Your body has become tolerant to the drugs, it sounds like. You may be running the risk of developing a dependency on the drugs and may suffer withdrawal symptoms if you try to stop.
This is quite common with long term use of tranquillisers or sleeping pills.
You should give this page a read from the national institute of health http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/d...r/a605009.html
Hope your sleep improves soon.

Welcome and thank you for the link.
I am certain that I have become tolerant to these meds...this is what upsets me so.
For a couple of years I was jsut taking benadryl then that stopped working.
after that the lunesta for about a year then ambien for a year and now back on lunesta.
will see my pdoc next week...see what she has to say.
I have been having some night sweats....maybe part of premenopause...great just what I need! but such is life....
There is no treament for these symptoms for a bipolar 1 woman like me.
I would not even think of taking hormones, depo prevara the birth control shot triggered my first mania years ago.
I slept better last night so maybe the lunesta is kicking in again.
thanks for you note.

hi sweety.

not like i can give you the best advice on sleeping huh?

caffiene...sugar...both can keep you up. eating fruit late at night. heck even action packed tv can keep you up.

but getting into a routine helps.

your body might just be needing a little detox from the sleep meds. i hope the lunesta will kick in full speed tonight.

Bizi,

I cannot somtimes get to sleep till 8 or 9 in the morning after taking my meds. For me it is the stimuli of anything that happens that will keep me up or physical ailments. I don't fight it as it seems to make me feel worse. I don't know how I will adjust though when I have to work.

Curious,

I usually do thing like learning new things, catching up with folks by email, lately writing poems or making greeting cards.
