Default This Day..

To THe Fallen:

Eternal God,
Creator of years, of centuries,
Lord of whatever is beyond time,
Maker of all species and master of all history --
How shall we speak to you
from our smallness and inconsequence?
Except that you have called us to worship you
in spirit and in truth;
You have dignified us with loves and loyalties;
You have lifted us up with your lovingkindnesses.
Therefore we are bold to come before you without groveling
[though we sometimes feel that low]
and without fear
[though we are often anxious].
We sing with spirit and pray with courage
because you have dignified us;
You have redeemed us from the aimlessness
of things' going meaninglessly well.
God, lift the hearts of those
for whom this holiday is not just diversion,
but painful memory and continued deprivation.
Bless those whose dear ones have died
needlessly, wastefully [as it seems]
in accident or misadventure.
We remember with compassion those who have died
serving their countries
in the futility of combat.
There is none of us but must come to bereavement and separation,
when all the answers we are offered
fail the question death asks of each of us.
We believe that you will provide for us
as others have been provided with the fulfillment of
"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted."

Unhappy

Oh wendy, I am sorry that you got sun burned...those can be so painful.
The last time I got sun burned like that was years ago...we walked on the peir at pensecola beach and was lobster red when we came back. I remember drinking heavily after that at the habana next door the rest of the vacation. That was terrible.

Bizi, I once dated a sailor from Pensecola. I haven't heard it mentioned much since. It is surrounded by water isn't it?

Nikko, I did enjoy one taco today with my girlfriend and then later went to hear an Elvis impersonator. I even got up and danced a couple of times.

Heart Happy Memorial day all

We are cooking out again today. Just hamburgs and hotdogs, I will make some salads. The weather held off for us yesterday, the storms came during the night,

I went down the cemetary to water the flowers last evening when the rain had held off. They were so dry, They have a nice drink now.

I think I will try to get a nap only a few hours of sleep last night and long day chasing the grandson.

Have a nice Holiday all.

Making a big pot of chicken and sausage gumbo for some friends coming over this afternoon...I was stressing out so much over the past 2 days of what to fix...went to bed worring about this and woke up this morning worring as well.....having company is such a big ordeal for me.
WE usually go over there and grill up food on a regular basis...I felt it was only fair to invite themover.
They just whip up meals and margaritas with out any problem...me it takes days of planning. Hubby said I was making myself crazy...well the house needs to be cleaned...it is overwhelming but I need to learn how to do these things and not freak out...hubby helps me so much.
Had a toilet break on us yesterday...so we spent all day diagnosing the problem..renting an auger to root it out but that wasnt the problem...the toilet itself went bad. Put it outside on some blocks and filled it up and it wouldn't flush so we bought and hubby installed a new toilet all by himself.
I was really proud of him...the whole thing took all day! But we saved a trip of a plumber...so we went to a steak house to celebrate...and now have a lot of things to do before they arrive...
These are our good friends...I should not be stressing like this...I should be having fun...we are used to cooking for 2 not 5.
anyway..
I am listening to the Duhks and they are great and we already went shopping so now just finish cleaning and cooking the gumbo which takes hours to cook.
I love the Duhks a celtic group I think I have posted a link to their web site before.
Have a great memorial day all.
Hugs for the room
