Default I was told a long time ago I have atypical bipolar disorder whatever that means lol

I have mostly been diagnosed with atypical depression and I was treated with maois until I drink beer with them andhad a minor stroke lol that was smart. A couple of doctors have told me I had bipolar but mostly with down swings and not many up swings. Who knows at this point lol. I just know I am depressed

Hi, Mark,

My moods are this: down and anxious.
Sometimes only depression or only anxiety but in the awful periods I get both at the the same time.
My meds take care of most of the anxiety but do not do much for the depression.

I am very sorry that you are depressed.
Do you get anxiety?

Mark It's probably not your fault. It's the illness. I feel like I've been through a maze. BF

Mark,

Things do get "less bad."

I try to remember to be kind to myself.

I hear you about being home inside.

Mark....This is the first I have seen about a stroke, in your posts.

Can you give some details about it? Did you have it confirmed by MRI? Were you paralyzed at all...and then recovered somewhat?
Minor strokes usually do not cause central pain syndrome. It is the more severe ones that may do this.

Strokes can create brain damage, and in some people this leads to a type of pain called central pain syndrome. This is very difficult to treat.

it was a mild stroke. Which caused chronic pain. Followed by a concussion. Followed by a dangerous drug interaction by my doctor.he gave me an oxycontin and subutex together even though I was never addicted to anything. He gave them to me for pain and caused a lot of damageit was a mild thalamic. Stroke. I caused by drinking beer with an maol. I started my own downfall. and let's not forget the time I took an MAOI with an SSRI. It's a wonder I still can walk

I get it. I feel that way too.... like every time I was getting somewhere I screwed it up.

It's probably not all our fault. Maybe some, but maybe less than we think. Some of it is just the way the chips fall.

Your stroke... that's not all your fault. I know, I know. MAOI + beer = bad idea, agreed, but gosh, you had one of the worst possible consequences. You really paid for it in spades.

Take care. Try not to be too hard on yourself. Life's already being hard on you.
