Question Hi, Pam. What's the news?

Dear Pam,
How was the move?
How is the family?
Are you still in love with the house?

I hope that you are safe and intact and the the move was as uneventful as possible.

Now tell. I am impatient.

Hi Mari & everyone,

I wish I had really good news but there were a LOT of problems with the move. It began with the truck, they put it into service the morning we were going to rent it and luckily they had a replacement but we had to drive to their sister location 15 miles away. It was a terrible start, and if you saw the weather you probably knew about tropical storm Barry, well we were lucky it didn't rain HARD but once it started it kept up all night and we had to move the washer in the rain! I was so afraid my dh and ds were going to fall off the ramp and slip or something but we were VERY lucky in that respect.

Although that is we took over 8 hours to load everything, we were even luckier in that we had two neighbors offer to help, a mother and her son, her 16-17 year old angel of a boy who helped Jack to the bitter end, she was pretty strong herself too I gotta say, between us all we got it unloaded by 3 AM. And we went to sleep for three hours and when I got up I couldn't find the darn sweetner for the coffee and was stuck drinking it black, but we got the truck back in time. I have to admit it was really a shame that things didn't go better then then did, but at least we got through it intact.

When we got here and signed the lease, it was around 3 pm on friday and the lady took two hours of our precious time. We were also lucky that the power was still on at the old place because our battery powered flashlight wasn't able to last the entire night. I am so glad to be here though, and though there are things already going wrong here, like the ceiling fan never worked in the living room and the stupid toilet paper holder fell off the bathroom wall along with one towel rack holder, it's definitely nicer here then our old place.

Thank you all so much for being here for me through this really rough time. I don't know what I would have done without your loving support everyone. You're all awesome!

Pamster, I'm so sorry the move didn't go more smoothly. It all sounds very frustrating. Must have been tough. Thank goodness you are all in and just dealing with some little irritations now (which all add up to one big irritation, I know).

I hope things improve and settle down. Keep us posted when you can.

Pam,

Sorry to hear there were problems with the move. It sounds like though you are still positive about it.

Thanks everyone! You are so awesome, I don't know how to thank you all enough for the support you've given me during this incrediblly trying time. One of the neighbors who helped is diabetic sadly so brownies are out, I was thinking of getting a pizza or something since diabetics can eat pizza, but I don't know what kind to get, or to get them some kind of an angelic knick knack they could keep and remember how much we appreciated their help and that we think they were angels for helping us like they did.

Something will come to me, but maybe I could bring them a thing of brownies for her sons and do it in a nice cookie jar they could keep or something, I am definitely doing something for them. I was thinking of trying to write a short poem and making a card for them but I haven't got a working printer since Jackie beat the one up I got last November, the scanner still works but the printer died. Anyway, I appreciate each of your replies, thank you so much for being such great friends to me, I really am lucky to have so many caring friends here.

Jackie is doing good considering we still don't have the door chains up. He hasn't tried to get outseide though he's gone into the garage numerous times and I am really tired of chasing him around but it will work out in time I think. I hope to get them installed by this coming tuesday when the handyman comes to fix the toilet paper holder and to fix the ceiling fan in the living room. I am going to call down there to the lady's boss if I don't have an answer to this burning question about the chains by Monday. I think a week is more then long enough to wait for an answer to a serious safety issue.

Anyway, things are settling in slowly but surely. I still have to locate some things, but the computers and the TV, dvd, and vcr are all set up and have been for a few days. I have hope that the postman/person will bring us the keys to the new mailbox today, we really need them and I don't know why they couldn't just give me the keys they had and have to put in a totally new lock, but whatever, I know there is a check coming from the city with a refund for our water deposit, so I definitely need to get INTO the mailbox soon, the sooner the better.

Jackie was such a little trooper during the move, he stayed with us, no running off, and he helped more then we could have expected. I am so proud of him. And he seems to really like it here, since he runs around the kitchen and dinning room divider like a little madman, its pretty obvious he's happy here. Also we're going to do the pool today out back, I am really happy that there IS a backyard to speak of, flat enough with one tree for us to enjoy some shade and some sun while taking a refreshing dip into the pool. I doubt we'll get any photos done just yet, but I DO know where the camera is at least.

Hope you all have an awesome weekend! And I will try to post more, I missed you all so much I am so happy to be back online again and moved into this gorgeous new place, it's just right for us.

I feel pretty good about things right now, it's easy to clean the kitchen and to keep the bathrooms clean so far, and the kiddo is helping with the vacuuming like he would at the old place. Only thing is we have to switch plugs because the cord isn't long enough to go all over the house like it used to work out to be. LOL!

It's a nice little inflatable pool, octagonal, the same depth as those twenty dollar retangular ones only it has three rings, Jackie can actually go under water and swim just a bit, its only a small pool, no filter and the manager came into the apartment today while we were out there and I was really startled...I didn't expect it and it was like "Okay, the door just opened I know it was locked, what's up?"

Anyway, she wanted to come over and tell us that we can't leave the pool up if we're not using it and we told her we knew about little kids and thinking it would be fun to swim in unsupervised and present itself as a hazard. I gotta say it really freaked me out that she just came in like that though, we were all in the pool and then she was coming out the sliding back door. I really was startled.

But other then that we had a great time and made stir fry for dinner. It was a great day, played some guitar hero II for the kiddo and Jack is playing it now for him again, he loves that game, its teh music mostly I think he likes. But it's fun to play too only Jackie isn't coordinated enough to do it yet on his own. Soon I bet he will be though.

Thanks for being here for me through the rough spots bizi, it really helped knowing you were here and that everyone else cared so much and was pulling for us.
