It is 4am here and 32 degrees. burr for the south! My anti histamine stopped working so I got up and took some more meds. Perhaps I am over loading them:

First thing Friday morning 9 am:
zyrtek 10mg ( supposed to last all day!) antihistamine for allergies
Allegra- D for allergies and congestion: 12 hour Decongestant withpsedoephedrine 120mg and fexofenadine hcl 60mg,antihistamine
This Does not last 12 hours more like 6-7.
mucinex-DM- 12 hour for cough and expectorant Guaifensin 1200mg and dextromethorphan 60mg

Pharmacist said that I could take just plain old sudafed to cover the hours that the allegra stopped working. So this morning 4am instead of suffering with symptoms( running nose and stuffed then stopped up so I cant breath) I decided to take:
alka seltzer plus- It last 4 hours and has aspirin for sore throat, Clorpheniramine maleate 2 mg anti histamine dextromethorphan 10 mg for cough and phenylephine bitartrate 7.8mg for nasal decongestant.

I am drinking hot water sweetened with stevia for my sore throat it feels good.
4:45 nose is still stopped up. I can't seem to sleep with my mouth open.
cough drops have not helped.

This is the third day of my allergies or sinus or cold what ever it is. I have had once a day coughing spells so severe that I thought I was going to throw up, having laryngo spasms uncontrollable barking like cough. That alarms people. I am trying to not have this turn into a full blown sinus infection like I have had so many times before. I really don't want to go to the walk in clinic. This time, that is why I have thrown the " big guns" of medications over the counter, drinking plenty of fluids to stay hydrated.
Trying to nip it in the bud so to speak.

5am and I can sort of breath thru one nostril. Maybe I will try to go back to bed. My alarm is set for 8:30 I have a client at 10, then lunch with jeff then hair color appointment at 1pm which usually takes 3 hours and then I have 2 more clients to see after that. So it is a busy day.
I need to be on my feet and not coughing or sneezing or runny nose, I think this is all sinus stuff no fever so I don't think that I am contagious.
I don't want to seem contagious either.

thursday night I got about 6 hours of sleep woke up friday morning and did paper work for 2 hours I felt fair so thought I would take advantage of the extra time in the morning to do paper charting that I was so far behind in. Instead of going to bed maybe I will just do more paper work, I am not tired and have gotten about 6 1/2 hours of sleep.

5:15 think I am up for the day.
thanks for bearing with me.

Bizi, have you tried Nasonex for the short term? I know they don't like to rely on it, but to open up when dd couldn't breath last month they gave it to her for a few days. It got her through the rough patch. Then she switched from Claritin to Allegra, but she had a sinus infection with blocked ears so then it was an antibiotic.

Her tea was Euchanacia (sp) and warm honey lemon water for her throat.
I hope it frees up and you feel much better today.

It's really dropped in temp, barely 30 for a high today working in the Pocono's. We had just about an inch of snow. What is strange is reading about the super frigid temps you all are having south of us.

Bizi. I know what you mean. For some reason that I do not understand,I'm having the worse time this year with my allergies. I'm up way early because I'm having a allergy attack.

The air drying up may be some of the problem. I don't know.

I'm taking my regular allergy meds, but they are not working. BF:hug::hug::hug:

sickly discussion....

awake at 5am this morning got out of bed at 6 but I went to bed last night at 7:30pm...I never do that. I coughed up some yellow stuff this morning...sorry if TMI..first time my nasal secretions have been slightly yellow this morning after I blew my nose then back to clear.
If they turn to green then I will go to a walk in clinic. no fever but head ache so took some advil and am sucking on a numbing cough drop for my sore throat it is helping. I will go ahead and take my OTC meds,
my sister told me to get some afrin..so I will do that today.
Work was ok yesterday except my meds wore off like I knew they would around 4;30 I was with my last client and felt like crap and my voice changed to sounding like a base and I could not speak up and she is hard of hearing so not the best interaction....I told her my sinuses were acting up or maybe allergies. She was so sweet she gave me a piece of lemon pie. She is in her 90's and very spry for her age.
I love my clients.
