Part of a larger emission nebula with a distinctive outline popularly called The North America Nebula, the cosmic ridge spans about 20 light-years.

On the site that's linked and under where it says "Explanation", I love looking at some of the ones where it says "Tomorrows pictures". Just amazing.

They are. On October,2018 they plan on putting a much more powerful telescope in space. The telescope is called the James Webb Space Telescope, and it's much bigger, and more powerful, and will have a different orbit. BF

I have a special solar filter to look at the sun directly. I want to see a eclipse. When I look at the sun with that filter,it looks like the moon. I bought it online for about 15 dollars. I still don't look at it to long. I don't stare at the sun with this device to long. Our eyesight is presious, and I want to keep it that way. BF

That is soooo coool. Did you see the eclipse, BF?

Here, it was visible in late morning. I slept through it.And several hours past it. I could not have looked at the sun, but I would have liked to have seen the light turn red outside. Sigh.

I was outside in a total one when I was little, maybe 7 or 8. Suddenly it got dark and but for this eerie reddish glow. Kinda scary but also cool. I remember I was glad when the sun came back.
