Unhappy Carpel Tunnel Syndrome....

Carpel Tunnel Syndrome
Carpel Tunnel Syndrome?
I wonder how many of you suffer with this?
My brace for my right hand is not helping much any more. I have had it for about 5 years.
The brace has a metal piece and that seems to be jabbing into my wrist/inner arm 3 inches above my wrist.
Is there a forum here for RSI?
Repetitive Strain Injury?
I saw a huge list of links at the TOS site....
and I have never done any research....
it is getting worse so I need to start learning.
Using the computer makes it worse.
thanks

Bizi,

I had surgery on my right wrist in 1995 for the very same thing and haven't had problems with it since. However, the past few years my left wrist seems to act up from time to time but not enought to go to the doctor.

OUCH.....I don't have that problem, but I have heard it is very painful.

Is your keyboard lower than your screen? That is much better.

I too say get it checked out, before it gets any worse.

Default CT

Bizi,
I don;t know why but the knew forums post BT1 melt doen have not been very active RSI, they do have them, but most go to chronic pain.

5 years is time for a new brace! I have had three in that amount of time and do not wear all day or near daily.

ONe thing that greatly reduced my CT symptoms!!! My throid medicine. I had so much pain prior to being diagx hypo thyroid, with the synthroid I ammuch better with the pain,. And also using Dragon dioctate and not being onthe forum ALL DAY. reading, researching andpapers in school.

Hope you feel better,
Di

thanks Di,
Well, I found that the brace hurt more than helped at this point...I do need to get a new one for sure.
Jo from another forum here posted an algarythm to diagnosing the problem...too confusing for my brain...
you would think I knew what some of those medical terms ment but what is supranation of the extensor metacarpels....
anyway
I will try to figure out these terms...I do appreciate the links and need to get serious about my arm...
it is weird...holding it over my head helps relieve the symptoms.
using the mouse on the left side has helped.

When using a mouse. a pad, have a good ergonomic one, also always a wrist pad support, mine is gel. Also, the keying, a good support across the keyboard for wrist to rest on. There should be no hunched angle to the wrist.

4 over the counter Advil, for inflamation.
I use a glove instead of a brace with metal. when sleeping be careful with the wrist, there are dollar store gloves to use for sleep keeping the hand proper,

Rest well,
Di

I wish you wen're hurting so much bizi, I don't have CTS but I have chronic pain and I can definitely appreciate pain. It must be really frustrating for you. If you can get a new brace I hope that it will help you.

Oh bizi - I am having all the same problems - after awhile, the brace starts to jab into some part of my hand. I have several braces, and I change from time to time. Sometimes that helps. Unfortunately, I do an awful lot of typing on the job....My left isn't so good, either. I actually moved the mouse at work to my left hand, and after a few weeks, it was hurting so much that I had to switch back. Can't win either way. I hear that surgery often works well, but I'm just not up for surgery of ANY type....

Good luck w/ your research! Let us know if you find something new and exciting!
