Default Tremedal and psych meds

Has anyone got any knowledge about the pain killer Tramedal and psych meds? I am on lithium, lorazepam, lamictal, Risperdal, gabapentin & Effexor.
I don't think I am spelling Tramedal correctly. But anyway, is it dangerous to take it with my meds? its 9:30pm and cvs is closed so I cant call to ask them...thought I'd ask you guys.

Thanks for any info!!!

Hi Cblue

You might find this list of potential major interactions between Tramadol and other drugs helpful; http://www.drugs.com/drug-interactio...eneric_only=#L .

As far as I can see from it there are possible major interactions between it and lithium, Risperdal and Effexor.

Hi, Cblue

Yes. Tramadol and Effexor work the serotonin. . . . . .issues would depend on how much you are taking and how sensitive you are, and such. The main issue seems to be an increased risk of seizures but your lamictal lowers that risk.

I hope that a call to the pharmacist can help you to get this sorted out.

Your pharmacist should have spoken to you about the interactions. When billing insurance the potential for interactions is scanned and reported to the pharmacist who has the
power to decline the interaction and proceed with the transaction.
Or they can stop, talk to you and call your doctor.

Many doctors consider the tramadol serotonin potential interaction to be rare... they prescribe it all the time for people taking SSRIs. When it is a low dose tramadol the interaction is unlikely unless the SSRI is very high. But high dose tramadol does cause seizures when mixed with other drugs in some people.

I don't know if it was the tramadol or just coincidence, but I went into a major depression for a few days while I was taking it. I stopped taking it a few days ago and the fog is lifting. I am never taking it again.

Thanks for your help guys!!!
