Default anyone know what lithium toxicity feels like?

I made a mistake and had a couple of beers Tuesday night. Wednesday, I dropped 15 pounds in water and I can't drink enough to keep up. (Yeah! to loosing the water, but not good in 100 degree heat.)

I am so sick to my tummy, it's all I can do not to throw up. I am so sleepy and the fibro is kicking my butt, along with muscle cramps.

I am always foggy and muddled, so that's no different. My balance is always off, so that's no different.

And if it is the lithium, what do I do? First thing I will do is find the pdoc when his office opens at 9am, but till then.....

I am thinking of actually going home from work and I never do that.

help?

Maybe in addition to the water drink/take stuff with electrolytes. (But I guess you are not really into eating right now.) Check with pdoc first.
Also, you can probably skip a dose of two of lithium -- you already know that, but check with pdoc.

I hope that you feel better soon.

Mrs Bear

I may be way off the mark, but the symptoms you describe are also that of heat stroke. An unquenshable thirst followed by vomiting and muscle cramps, this is happening because you are loosing all the salts in your body due to the heat.
mention it to your Doctor [ i had this last year in the UK, yes we occassionly do get a bit of hot weather]

Heat stroke and beers with any meds. you lost a ton of water you have

Mrs. Bear I'm so sorry you're feeling so badly.

I had blood work Friday and Monday she told me to stop the Lithium for a while until my levels drop. I've been nauseous, vomiting and had "d". I'm weak and shaky still after 3 days. It was so hot last weak I think I got myself dehydrated. And I'm thirsty but it comes right out.

I don't like being off the lithium because I need to be stable. So hopefully it's just dehydration and not that your lithium is too high. When was the last time you had yours checked?

I skipped one night of the lithium and only took 2 thirds the dose last night. Feeling kinda icky, but not as bad.

I am still peeing more than I can drink and my weight is jumping up and down; 10 pounds heavy in the morning and I can't wear my shoes and then almost normal by night time. But my feet stay swelled up.

Pdoc never did call back. Twinky. I'll get him though.....I just didn't want to abuse my cell phone privleges.

Unhappy

I am sorry that your pdoc never called back...ugh!
That much fluctuation sounds terrible.
Have you considered calling your regular physician?
thinking about you....

Finally got a hold of the pdoc yesterday. His secretary just doesn't return phone calls. sigh.

He changed me over to triliptel. So I dumped the lithium and am titrating up on the new one.

Wish me luck. I have been so tired, I've been sleeping constantly. Maybe a teeny little hypo-mania might not hurt? At least just enough to get my house clean? Kidding. But my house looks like a tornado swept through it.

Hopefully my mood is stable enough to with stand the change over. I am a little nervous.

Thanks for the support. What ever happened to me? This crap just gets harder and harder to deal with.

Dear Bear,
One of the happiest days of my life was the day I d/c 'ed Lithium and freed myself from it.
Good luck on the triliptel.
You are going to be all right.
