I'm glad your stomach feels a little better. It was so nice of your husband to make you breakfast! :)

Chilly weather for a parade, but I'm sure you'll have fun! Happy Mardi Gras!!!

Bizi,

I am happy to hear that you enjoyed your Mardi Gras.:):):)

I was the organ player at our tiny church starting in 8th or 9th grade.
Today, Ash Wednesday, we used to go to Church.
---
Mom used to make cheese pizza on fast days during lent . . .
. .. making the dough the the day before, putting it in the fridge, and baking the pizza the next day.

Usually it was just cheese pizza. Often we had anchovy pizza.
My sister or I cooked if Mom was working that year.

Ash wednesday....beginning of lent for the mostly catholics that live in my community.
I am not religious at all but felt like this would be an acceptable length of time to do a streak of AF time. My lunch bunch friends are catholic so they would understand my not drinking or declining a whole foods evening at the bar.
I need this time.
It is a round 40 something days until easter.
going to try not to count as I hate seeing those numbers....

Cheese pizza sounds good mari, anchovvies don't though!

Bizi,

I am glad you are have lunch friends that can be helpful.

Lent is around 40-46 days because Sunday is a day of rest - - -
-- no sacrifices or restrictions on Sundays.

edited to add, I found this on the internet:
Quote:

Technically, Sundays are not part of Lent. Although we celebrate them liturgically as part of Lent, the Lord's Day cannot be a day of fast and abstinence. Six weeks of Monday through Saturday gives you 36 days. If you add to them Ash Wednesday and the three days after it, you get the 40 days of Lent.

OhKay 02-11-2016 08:59 AM

I grew up Catholic and I remember going to church for Ash Wednesday, but I don't remember us ever observing Lent. We weren't very observant.

well my abstinence did not last but 1 day. I went to whole foods and had some beer and dinner, jeff joined me. Had fun.

Bizi,

Is Whole Foods nearby and handy for you?

I have two Whole Foods about 25 mins away in different directions.
But they are in neighborhoods far from my usual places and one has a
horrendous parking situation and the other is next to a huge
highway with lots of traffic.

I go about three times a year maybe.

It is nice that you have a place to hangout and have the food you like with your buddies.
