Confused Health, Dental, Medicare, Insurance, Help....

I am grabbing at straws here. My medicare A and B does not cover any type of Dental. I have Prescription Insurance - Humana preferred. No dental insurance

Yesterday Dirk got me this brush type gel to put on my left upper teeth to see if that would help the pain any. It has somewhat. I don't have any wisdom teeth, they were taken out years ago. So, it could just be helping the lower ear area, who knows.

I called a few places to have this area of my mouth/teeth checked out, and even with their payment plans and such, you have to put down so much money for a year, then pay the rest out of pocket. I don't have that type of money.

I am going to look into Care Credit which is another Dental plan. That I saw on a ad in the phone book, under one dentist, that also showed the Dept. of Eco. Insurance. I assume that is under their health plan, which is crappy if you need to go to the hospital and such, at least I think so, and I would lose my Medicare, I assume.

The woman at one place, told me some of the side effects of a problem with teeth is ear aches, headaches and something to do with saliva in your mouth.

I am also going to call Dept. of Economic Security where they give me money for food each month, also where they give people Health insurance if needed and spending money on a card like the food card if needed. I only get 100.00 per month for food, besides my SSDI.

I could just scream the pain is sooooooooooooooooooo bad. I stayed in bed and slept the entire day yesterday, I self medicated, with my pain med, migraine med, ear drops, teeth swab gel, anxiety pill, woke up at 10pm last night. Then had a banana and a bottle of water and went back to bed till now, 7am.

Tomorrow I see my PCP at 7:45 am, I sure hope I can make the drive there, it's around 40 minutes and you know how it is when you are in pain and have to leave the house for any reason, yet alone drive.

I am asking for a few prayers if you get a minute. I would appreciate it.
I am at my wits end with this, it's been weeks and weeks it seems.

Hugs and Thanks, Nikko

I found a website called USA Dental.......the prices are good 11.99 per month, with a 34.00 enrollment fee. I have my member number, now I just have to wait for my card, yet I can still use it. But I still have to have the money for the services after the discount, which I don't have until next week.

Better than nothing.

A 50% plus discount on most dental procedures.

Plus free vision care.

Heart

((((((Nikko)))))),

If you're near a bigger city, there should be a dental school there.

I finished getting over $2,000 worth of dental work done late spring last year -- crowns, bridges, one root canal, and one extraction

Medicaid stopped covering dental expenses here in Massachusetts during the entire time that I was getting my teeth fixed. Now that all the work has been done, I'm covered again

I got really good care at the dental school. I usually got 3rd or 4th year students. One student was NOT good. I complained and told the director of the school that the student was not quite ready to graduate. They held the student back and assigned me to another 3rd year student. They're well supervisied. During the time that I was going here in Boston, the dental school had a plan that was much-much lower than their regular fees.

I hope you get some relief FAST. BIG HUGS.

THe other thing is even though its considered dental work, you might talk to your pcp tomorrow. It's possible she/he might be able to find a way to get it covered through your medical, its also possible sometimes to find a way to get it covered under something maybe in surgical I would think.

I would work on it. Also you could approach say some local church's to see if they would help you with getting into see if there is something that can be done too.

Nikko, This sounds so related to the sinus issues they say you do not have. I would request a CAT scan of the area. WHen I had a low laying long term infection it sat above my upper left teeth.I cried in pain when it flared.

But I had to take a sulfa medication to finally get rid of it. I think too I had actifed.....

It just seems so conincidenatal that you have had the misery of the sinuses and now this upper tooth pain...Do you have regular asprin? I take that for tooth pain and sinus pain. Also if you have any tylenol three it ,may help.

I hope you find out what it is soon.
Oh, we have a Rual Health clinic in our area, they go by income bases, EARNED income only, if you are no earned income, it is a 0 income, you sign a form stating that. Services ate 10%, x-ray 50%, extractions I think are 50%.

see if the phone book has a referral service in your area.
OH, in PA, if you have pre exsisting condition, like heart, or anything that could get worse with dental work..(spine issues) then a doctor states it has to be done out patient or a med facility they medical card will pay for it.
But do try the cat scan.. P am not sure if low in that area shows on xrays.
Feel better soon
Di

OH! on the RSD forum there is a dentist that post about helping his patients with extended knowledge, maybe he has a thought

Thanks all.....I did have a cat scan of my sinuses which showed nothing, that did not include the ear area though. They even checked my eyes with some type of drops in the ER the 2nd time.

They keep saying it is migraines. I will have my teeth checked out too, we have many schools, universities here, so I can go that route too.

It's been such a awful ordeal, one thing is connected to another, the pain just has a route of it's own. It is really putting me down and out and in bed for most of the day.

I will see what my PCP says tomorrow, I pray this all gets resolved ASAP.

Hugs, Nanc

Wow - lots of info and confusing, but I understand, just need to look into a few things. I think I get too much HA from SSDI, because they will only give me 100.00 from ACCESS for food and nothing for expences.

Anyway, I found that dental plan that will be fine. USA Dental

I have a pension when I become of age for it, I think then I can get SSI too, not sure.

Too much to comprehend at the moment, my head is well you know.

Plus, I have been a bit dizzy lately, and weak in the legs when I get up from sitting for awhile, like when after driving and I have to stop, hold on, and it passes. I have very low blood pressure so that could be it too. Ugh,,,getting old is tough.....I'll be 49 in Oct.....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Unhappy

You could be getting a bit dehydrated...if you are getting a bit light headed and already have low blood pressure.
Please watch your fluids, gatorade too if you are out in the sun...need those electrolytes as well as fluids.
It is way too hot where you live these days....
the west has been just crazy in weather and fires....
