I feel EXACTLY the same way Donna. I know we both have particular trouble with ice and the heat.

Every road and almost every parking lot was completely bare by the time I went out yesterday, but there's a mini ice chunk/snow bank that runs partway through my parking spot because the car next to me never cleared off their car or moved it for the plow. It's on the passenger side of my car, and therefore their problem to deal with- not mine. It's supposed to be about 50 degrees out today with rain possible in the afternoon. Maybe they will get lucky and all, or most of it, will melt.

Today is my weekly lottery/Dunkin Donuts day. Since I've been dealing with more than my share unpleasant things so far this week, I bought coffee and cigarettes yesterday so I wouldn't have to do anything else. I should be doing laundry, but I've developed a strange aversion to doing it lately, and now I'm probably going to end up having to do a couple of loads before food shopping tomorrow, which isn't ideal.

I planned on making pork tenderloin for dinner last night. Even though the expiration date was 2/2, and it was vacuum sealed, it was rancid when I opened it. Since everything else was frozen, the only thing with any protein I had on hand instead was whole grain pasta, which is a NOT a diet-friendly food. I tossed it with vegetable broth, fresh garlic, and olive oil. I kept the portions small, and served it with spinach on the side. Come Sunday we will have been on stage one of South Beach for the recommended 2 weeks, but last night was our mutual third cheat. I'm fairly certain that my husband has been cheating more often.

When I got home from my appointment I could tell that someone from maintenance had been by to "fix" the faucet, but it's leaking worse now. That was at least the 4th time they "fixed" it. I think that replacing the fixture would help (and I have told them that), but they are resisting doing that for some reason. I'm going to have to call and request another work order, but I'm not going to do it until I've had my shower. I'm not going to be rushed or inconvenienced today if I can help it.

I hope that you have had a nice shower and that the maintenance men were able to fix your faucet satisfactorily.

I got my laundry in early, and I could potentially get my food shopping out of the way if I don't drag ***, but I'm waiting for a phone call to my land line, and I don't like the idea of going out unless/until I get it. Maybe I can forward calls to my cellphone? I will look into that.

I called about the faucet again and got a girl from the "off-site leasing office." She put in a work order, but the copy that was emailed to me had my apartment number, but no building number on it. Between that, and the fact that they were just here the day before and may think it's a duplicate request, I don't know if maintenance will come again or not. **** it, if they don't come soon, I'll just call again. In the meantime, I'll just keep putting kitchen towels back there to absorb the leakage.

I've lost (and kept off) just over 7lbs so far dieting. Saturday will be 2 weeks on the diet, phase 1. My husband and I decided to hold off on going to phase 2, at least until I go food shopping next Thursday, because of the cheating. So that will be 18 days vs. 14... I have gone longer.

I really should get into the shower now in case maintenance actually comes and catches me in there later, but I have laundry to fold and it will get wrinkly if I wait. What a pain in the ***.

Yesterday morning, I bent down to get something and my vision got blurry and I got dizzy... and it kept happening everytime I looked down or bent over.

Where a typical person might just be concerned, I ****ing panicked because
1) I have MS which can cause a condition called optic neuritis which can cause severe vision problems and
2) I'm back on lithium (in a small dose), which caused me significant vision problems in the past
I also considered it may be a sinus infection because I have been feeling ****ty and I had pain behind my eyes (also a sx of optic neuritis tho).

I calmed down enough to decide that it was most important to rule out optic neuritis so if it was that I could get treatment ASAP. My eye doctor squeezed me in, and was able to rule it out. By that time, I was feeling worse, and he told me he thought I just had a really bad sinus infection.

I called my PCP and he called in antibiotics for me.

If I had just waited instead of freaking out and running out to the eye doctor, it would have become clear to me within a couple of hours that it was a sinus infection... a really, really bad one. I feel like total ****.

I really should not have driven to the eye doctor. So, no food shopping for me yesterday. It has to be done today though. I will either have to whittle my list down so my husband will go with me, or he will have to drop me off and pick me up. I also have to get the antibiotics, too.

Wow, the sinus infection came on fast.
scary

I had been feeling shitty, so I guess the sinus infection didn't really come on that fast, but apparently it was worse enough by Friday for those symptoms to appear. I probably would have put two and two together if I wasn't so deathly afraid of losing my vision. In addition to the vision problems I had while I was on lithium, I spent over a month damn near blind in both eyes while I was on Depakote. So, I panicked and got tunnel vision.

I'm still trying to do stage 1 of the South Beach diet, and my husband says he is, but he's really not. For example: after eating the soup I made for dinner last night, he polished off 1/2 sleeve of Ritz crackers with spray cheese... not really consistent with the rules of the diet. I don't mind preparing SB dinners for the two of us, but I think he'd have more success with a more conventional diet, if at all, and making the meals I send off to work with him would be much easier.
He's lost 2lbs since we started the diet, and has never been down any more than 3lbs. I've kept 7lbs off, which is a lot for 2 weeks, but I probably would have lost more had I not been cheating. I will probably finish out at least the full third week on stage 1.
