Kitty,

Some people are o.k. with them. Some people hate them. They have an off-putting smell when you open the package.
One way to deal with them is to thoroughly rinse and then dry pan-fry.

This is how I make them for hubby:

Rinse them really well and pan-fry them without oil or other liquid in order to remove as much water as possible.
Then I cut them up and put them in a soup.

Kitty, I think the noodles are worth a try. You got lucky that Mari has tried them and has found a good way to utilize them.

I'm using Ken's Italian dressing. It's mostly vinegar and canola oil (a "good fat"). No sugar or carbs, but it is high in (unsaturated) fat and calories. I use very little… about 1/4 teaspoon because it's very strong and I'm only having about 2 cups of salad at a time. I'm going to buy a balsamic vinaigrette when I hit the supermarket.

After Week 1:
Weight: 162lb (167 lbs)
BMI: 23.9 (24.7)

It only took me a couple of days to lose 4 lbs, but my weight loss has stalled since then. It's probably because I haven't gone to the BR in over a week.
But overall, I'm happy with my results and have been impressed by how disciplined I've managed to be.

I made a meal plan, and a shopping list for the grocery store. It will take out a lot of the guess work and make things a lot easier. I'm going to have to make two shopping trips this week though, and am not happy about that.

No turkey bacon this morning!!! I still have leftover chicken for breakfast.

Thank you Bizi

Despite 3 days of ramping up meds, I still haven't been able to go to the BR, but I still lost another 1/2 lb. I keep wondering how much weight I would actually have lost if I could go.

I bought about 1/2 of my groceries yesterday including a bottle of balsamic vinaigrette. I don't like it… it is very oily, almost tasteless, and sweet. I would have been better off just buying a bottle of balsamic vinegar, and may do just that. I bought a different brand of turkey bacon this time. I think I've had enough of the other brand for a while.

I made a beautiful pork tenderloin last night. I made an au jus with the pan drippings, but just for my husband. We both had spinach on the side. He's picky with veggies. I think it's odd that it's one of the ones he eats, and actually really likes. I had just about 2 oz of left overs and that's what I had with breakfast.

you could add the balsamic vinegar to your dressing to cut the sweetness.

That is a good idea Bizi. I wish I had read that before I went shopping. I decided to stick with what I had instead of buying anything else. I used that dressing again yesterday and found that it's better if I use more and add salt and pepper. At least it's something different.

I bought a different brand of canadian bacon than I usually buy. It's cheaper, but it's really tasty. My husband got home from work early yesterday and I made him a grilled cheese and threw some of it in there. He said it was just like a regular ham and cheese.

I prepped the chicken breasts I bought last night and ended up with 6 good size fillets. I'm glad to have that out of the way. I haven't cooked up a batch of turkey bacon yet, and I don't plan on cooking the canadian bacon in advance because is will dry out if I reheat it.

I ended up making 2 vastly different dinners: hot dogs and tater tots for my husband per his request, and chicken and (frozen) brussel sprouts for myself. I was scrambling to get everything done, and was left with tons of dishes. I won't be doing that again.

It would be much easier if he would eat the same things as you.

Bizi,

Hubby and I eat different foods for the most part.
It works out for both of us that way.

I do not cook much --- very clumsy /unsafe in the kitchen.

He prepares his own food for the most part.
Sometimes I cook one of his side dishes that he can reheat for another meal.

I had a Neurologist appointment this morning and according to their scale I have lost 9 pounds.

I know the first weight lost is usually water but I can feel the loss so I'm not too concerned about that.

The shirataki noodles were NOT a big hit with me. They do smell terrible and I rinsed them thoroughly. Cooked them according to the directions and dried them in a warm pan. The consistency is what I don't like. They have no taste but I just can't get past the wormy consistency.

DIL went to the grocery store for me after my appt. and got lots of produce for me. Strawberries, blueberries, lettuce, canteloupes, bananas, kale and spinach. We stopped by Olive Garden and got a huge salad to go. I just love Olive Gardens salad. I went easy on the dressing and didn't have any of the breadsticks. It was hard to resist them because they smelled so good!

Sounds like everyone is doing well on their weight loss journey. I've had a few slip ups but overall feel like I'm doing pretty good. I wish losing weight was as easy as gaining it!!
