sleep

Sunday night Hubby was "helping" me with something and then I got agitated.

Then I got more upset and could not sleep until 7:30 am.

Two hours later I woke up to the 9:30 am alarm.
I called work to tell them I was sick and then went back to sleep until about 4:00 p.m.

OhKay 02-07-2017 06:20 AM

I'm sorry you couldn't sleep and had to call out, Mari. That kind of **** must be so hard :hug::hug:

bizi 02-07-2017 08:17 AM

I am glad that you ended up getting some decent sleep!
bizi

Mari 02-09-2017 02:22 AM

Huby bitched so much and so long about the cable t.v. and internet bill that I finally told him we could find a cheaper company for the t.v.

Now I am missing my old t.v. system and feeling stressed about learning
something new.

i am sorry

Mari 02-09-2017 05:20 AM

My sleep problems are not logical but they are real

Hubby works extra jobs and long hours -- some mornings he gets up at 5:30 am and one night a week he comes home at 9:30 p.m.
. . . . that keeps me off balance and aggravates my sleep issues

=-=-=
Wednesday night (earlier tonight) he surprised me when he went out to the GYM
with his buddy and got home here at 10:00 p.m. :mad:
He wakes up Thursday at 5:30.

I tried to explain why his being out until after 10:00 p.m messed up my chances of getting any sleep tonight.
He did eventually understand that late night gyms were not going to happen any more -- I made a new rule.
=-=-=-

I told him no late gym nights.

=-=-

I have to find a way to get some sleep to get to sleep neuro appt at 1:30 Thurs.

M

mymorgy 02-09-2017 05:35 AM

can he also compromise about the food budget and let some go to the internet.'I bet he could dsave a lot of money there

OhKay 02-09-2017 07:08 AM

I don't like having to learn new tech things either. After 8 years still I don't know how to use devices with the all-in-one remote, and don't know how to use some features of our DVR.

I'm glad that you spoke up and let your husband know how his late night gym session screwed with your sleep, and he agreed not to do that again.

I hope that you got some sleep last night, or better yet are still sleeping as I am writing this :hug::hug:

mymorgy 02-09-2017 07:52 AM

Robert has saved me a lot o f money.i own my own wi fi modemand router so i don't pay the monthly fees.to buy them were not expensive.also i told you i bought ooma and that is about 100 dollars and then you pay about 5.50 a month for taxes. it has saved me so much money. vonage used to cost me 40 a month

bizi 02-09-2017 09:03 AM

yes I hope you are sleeping this morning and make it to your neuro appointment. Hope that goes well.

Mari 02-09-2017 06:18 PM

re going to bed late. Also feeling awful all the time.

Saw sleep neuro:

He talked a lot:

1 said something about my going into REM sleep early/quickly although I do not remember the context

2 suggested I have narcolepsy

3 recommended trying 1 mg melatonin early in the evening

4 recommended no blue light in the evening (no tv or computer)

5 recommended sunshine in the mornings

6 wants me to go to a nearby medical school for CBT for help with getting to bed / sleep patterns / fear of sleep

7 had me work with his sleep tech to replace the mask that I am using for something better.
I brought home two new masks to try.

M

bizi 02-09-2017 06:26 PM

HOw do you feel about this?
bizi

Mari 02-10-2017 03:22 AM

REM and Narcolepsy

Apparently, when they fall asleep, folks with narcolepsy go directly
into REM (dream sleep).

This is perhaps why I have a hard time committing to going to bed ---
-- basically I start dreaming (hallucinating) while I am still awake or right at the edge of sleep.

It was scary before old sleep doc explained it a year and a half ago.
He told me to realize that I was not hearing or seeing real things --
I was dreaming.

I would rather stay awake than deal with that.

I hope that his recommendations and one of the new masks work out

Narcolepsy makes sense the way you have explained it.

Did he mention you having another sleep study to test you for it? I had it done over 10 years ago. They repeated the nighttime test and then had me stay at the hospital for several hours afterwards and had me return to to the sleep lab periodically to try to take naps. It wasn't fun.

Yes. He explained that the test takes two days.

I am pretty sure that I will not agree to anything like that.

M

OhKay 02-11-2017 09:03 AM

I don't blame you for not wanting to do the test. It was unpleasant.

You don't have to decide now, but I would at least consider it because if you have narcolepsy, and can get the proper treatment for it, that may drastically improve your life :hug::hug:

It involves being in a room that is 100% dark on day two.

I cannot do that.

I did not argue with him or anything like that because he was only
mentioning it.

Wish I had some answers. I know a couple people that have
NarcoEpilepsy . There are a couple meds that they use
for this.

OhKay 02-12-2017 08:53 AM

I had the test done a long time ago, but they didn't keep me in a dark room all day. They encouraged me to go outside, etc.

I'm sorry you can't do the test, and sorry for suggesting you should

Sleep neuro is sending me to a local medical school for CBT with a team of
psychology students who are specializing in sleep disorders.
The students work under the supervision of a psychiatrist.

The desk person making the appointments asked me a bunch of questions.
Then she will send the information to whomever and I will get a call for an appointment.

I feel like I have to give this a try in order to satisfy sleep neuro but
I am not feeling good about CBT or about working with a psychologist/s.

The good news is that the appts are cheap and the plan is for a finite amount of time.

M

mymorgy 02-15-2017 07:51 AM

do they ever use self hyponosis for the condition to get you past the difficult first stage?

OhKay 02-15-2017 08:08 AM

I hope that it works out for you, Mari

Mari 02-16-2017 01:12 AM

Thanks, Kay.

mymorgy, hypnosis has the same issue that sleep does -- seeing and hearing weird things when I am sort of awake while also almost asleep/relaxed.

THey are supposed to get back to me for a Thursday or Friday afternoon appt.

In the meantime, I am exhausted and gaining weight.
When I am tired on work days, I eat sweets and carbs. Wed was one of those days.

M

OhKay 02-16-2017 07:44 AM

Sweets and carbs can be really comforting. I'm sorry that you have gained some weight. I'm sure that's not helping matters

I hope you get an appointment that works out with your schedule.

I planned to get some sleep Thursday night. (get some rest and get on a schedule)

I took my meds at 9:30 p.m.

Then I fell asleep sitting in front of the tv for two hours and woke up. :(

====
I have not been able to get back to sleep.
Finally I took a tiny piece of a lunesta pill so I can sleep.
I will be sleeping during the day.

M

bizi 02-17-2017 09:07 AM

I searched for the last mention of ritalin. I do not know why I stopped taking it.
