162.3 for me this morning.. pretty damn close to where you are right now lol. You are just coming back from vacation though. Give it a few days, and a couple of pounds may come off.

I'm still down from 167 when I started my diet, but far from my goal. I can't stop eating ****. I'm going back on my diet next week. My husband will be dieting this time, but I will be modifying it for him. He will obviously not observe the no alcohol rule, and it will be hard for him to eat 5 times a day (3 meals + 2 snacks) because of work.

Just got back from volunteering at the red cross shelter for flood victims.
They housed 250 people. I helped man a little nurses station, but mostly did little things that came up thru out the evening.
I worked with this really smart layed back guy, Josh, who could make things happen. He was a new grad since may and does not start his new nursing job until next monday so was available to help out. He has an emergency medicine back ground. I will go back tomorrow and all this week as I am needed.
The flooding has been bad in surrounding areas. President obama had not declared lafayette a disaster area as far as I know which means that we are not eligible for FEMA assistance just yet. We shall see.
I forgot to take my meds today at noon so I was kind of reeling by the end of the day.

It's wonderful of you to volunteer your time to help the people in your area. Since the flooding has effected so many places that have never flooded before, so many people must be shocked and overwhelmed. I can't imagine what they are all going through right now.

I went back to the shelter this afternoon and could not handle the stress there. I did not function well. So after an ineffective hour forgetting to get things for people I left and went to the dollar tree and bought some first aid supplies that they needed and some nail clippers too.
I came home defeated.
But after getting a text message from a nurse friend of mine who I recruited to work there, I felt better about it. She said there were 3 nurses already there so she handed out clothing and made hygiene kits.
So I thought...I can handle handing out clothing.
If I just stick to one thing I won't get overwhelmed. I just can't go into that supply room or try to do nursing things. My memory is terrible and my skills are lacking.
So I will go over there again tomorrow and try to make it work.
I really want to help out.

This shelter has 250, baton rouge shelters house thousands of people. 10 years ago I worked the shelter when hurricane katrina hit but there was a very nicely organized medic system in place. I worked the diabetes clinic.
Took blood sugars and gave insulin. Very different!

You are doing a good thing by helping people during such a crucial time for them.
I remember your work during the aftermath of Wilma. That was hard.
We got hit with that same awful Wilma (no electricity for eight days). It was amazing so I cannot forget
about it and hubby and I had just moved in together. 'Hope I did not get off track

Do the helping that works out for you.

It would be hard for me to work if things were not well organized, too. You must have felt pulled in many different directions. Focusing on one task will help you help others. You are doing good work

To think that I was almost at my goal weight in nov last year and that I have gained 25 pounds since then....

I do some volunteer work for hospice here so today I had some free time and went to see a new client, lives in a part of town that had been effected by the flood. I drove most of the way there in my little car then the patients husband came to pick me up in his big truck that had no difficulty going over the water covered bridge. She was sweet and I trimmed her toe nails, gave her a foot massage and gave her husband and daughter a big hug.
Had talapia for dinner tonight and some sauteed purple cabbage and zucchini. Mushrooms and chives off of the salad bar at whole foods.

The pictures of the gutted homes and at the side of the road piles of sheet rock and carpeting/floors is heart breaking.
