Hospice services are ordered by the doctor and the patient.
There are different levels of hospice care.
It is for terminally ill patients and they offer holistic care, spirtual, and palliative care, comfort measures only, end of life care and I have know people who have recieved hospice care for years, every 6 months they get re-evaluated.
They are the pain experts.
It is supposed to be about maintaining dignity and a quality of life....
They have social workers to help with family dynamics as well.
Hospice can truly be a comfort for patients and their families.
