I don't play with my cats much. My husband is better with that. I'm very affectionate with them though. That doesn't require much effort

i pet them at least a few times today. Kat night abby started scratching down more of the chinese screen. no other cat did that. Pudge has been hanging a lot under the table. I just have no energy and my legs hurt, Just took a bath. rather i have a session with them a few times a day and night.I think oudge tries to avoid abby

A product called Feliway comes in a spray or a plug-in diffuser, and it's supposed to calm cats and deter them from scratching furniture, etc. The product ratings are very good. There is a similar product by a different brand, but I don't know how well it works. You can check out Petco or PetSmart's sites for ratings before you decide to buy it, if you decide to buy it, somewhere else for a cheaper price. I wish I had bought it before my cats destroyed my living room set.

We need a new couch. I think I'm going to have to try the spray to see if the cats will stop scratching before I can convince my husband to buy one. He won't buy a new couch if he thinks the cats are just going to shred it.

Having a couple of tall scratching posts around helps, too. Cats like to stretch out when they scratch for some reason.

i think i have it somewhere but dont know where i put. I used it years ago when i had snowy and he had bad feline herpes. not sure if it worked. somehow abby likes that screen.it is right by my bed against the wall. I think i will keep on using tape. I also adore seeing abby so active. Pudge has always been placid. it is the breed. she does un into the kitchen in the morning when i go to make coffee and gets five minutes of petting-i know because of the timer.
I think your kitties will continue on. Pumpkins trashed my favorite couch. I wound up getting one that i didn't like and she didn't touch it

I'm sorry that you are worried that your nephews will be abandoning you now. But they may just be busy with the holidays, or just need some time before they make contact again. All may not be lost

They sell sticky strips to put on furniture, etc that cats don't like the feel of and they stop scratching because it's no longer enjoyable. I will see if I can find the name of them.

Felaway does have an expiration date. I ordered some of the spray for myself yesterday to try to see if they will stop scratching, and will let you know how it works out. I told my husband I bought it. He seemed happy. I think he wants a new couch, too.

i found the only way for the cats not to scratch furniture is to not like the furniture. Abby stopped scratching the bed. I think she saw that i didn't care.
She does scratch the rugs but i think that is natural and she hasn't done it yet to the rug i love.
good luck! what a cook you must be. the scale says i lost four pounds but i bet it only temporary. Last night i dream i had fantastic food.
Happy new year
love
bobby
i don't think i want contact with them. It is too painful. I did try to provoke both of them.

'm glad that you reached back out to your nephews to wish them a Happy New Year, and Laurence wrote back. I hope they both understand that you were just hurt before

Try to see the 4 pounds as something to build on, rather than something temporary if you can. Being positive can only help

I tried the Felaway in the past. You're supposed to spay everyday, and I was too busy to keep up with it, and abandoned it. They weren't scratching while I was using it, but I wasn't using it for long enough to be sure it was the Feliway. I have plenty of time to spray now.
They've never scratched carpets, but Buddy and Dottie like scratching the box spring.
