I was disappointed. BF:hug::hug::hug:

OhKay 02-11-2017 08:54 AM

I don't blame you BF. I'm sorry :hug::hug::hug:

Brokenfriend 02-11-2017 01:33 PM

It will probably work out. I just need to be patient. I just don't understand the coldness of some people out in the public. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Mari 02-11-2017 04:58 PM

'Hoping things work out for you soon.:hug::hug::hug:

So when do you go to get the new glasses?
bizi

Brokenfriend 02-11-2017 11:49 PM

At this time there are no glasses being made for me. They sent the glasses they marked for me back to the manufacturer. I don't know when my case manager will take the time to go over there. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Brokenfriend 02-14-2017 11:51 PM

My case manager called today, and said that I'm not going to get eye glasses through these people's help.

That gives me a strange feeling. I've never been denied medical help before. I grew up in a upper middle class family. I don't have insurance. I do have medicare/Medicaid, and they are not participant in these programs. I was told that the Lions club buys glasses for people in need. What's going on!!!?

I have not mentioned this situation to my brother in law, or nieces. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Mari 02-15-2017 12:42 AM

Does the case manager have other avenues she can pursue?

The Lion's club is a good organization as far as I know.

She hasn't said anything yet. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Brokenfriend 02-15-2017 02:07 AM

There are a number of phone calls that I can make to probably get results. If I don't get help from my local case manager, I can call my national case manager. etc,etc.

I don't want to manipulate anyone. I just want to get results. I may have to become my own advocate. BF:hug::hug::hug:

mymorgy 02-15-2017 07:49 AM

i amglad you didn't mention it to your brother-n-law. he doesn't sound like the sympathetic type. being your own advocate I think is a sign of growth. you can only do what you can do. I would explain the story to each person on the ladder. It really isn't fair though to be put in that position!

OhKay 02-15-2017 08:18 AM

I have a Medicare Advantage Plan and they provide a $150 benefit towards either eyeglasses or contacts, but I have to pay the rest. I'm sure between Medicare and Medicaid you qualify for some benefits. It's a possibility that the place you went to just doesn't accept Medicare or Medicaid as insurance, but there are plenty of places that do.

It's worth looking into what eye wear benefits you get from Medicare and Medicaid. Your case worker should be able to answer that question, but you can also call Medicaid/Medicare or try to locate the info on the web.

Good luck BF :hug::hug::hug:

As far as I know all Lions clubs do glasses.

I think that the people at this eye doctor's office just didn't want to help me.
The eye glass girl's attitude was disrespectful.

This has gotten to me. I am depressed about it. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Mari 02-16-2017 12:23 AM

I am sorry to hear that, BF. :hug::hug::hug:

I hope that you get your glasses soon, and that once you do, these experiences will hold less significance and be less hurtful than they are now :hug:

Brokenfriend 03-14-2017 12:17 PM

My case manager, and I went to another place in a different city to get my glasses. I only had to pay for the frames. I have not received them yet, but this is a relief. Those people were friendly. There was such a big difference between the two different eye glass people. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Dmom3005 03-14-2017 02:59 PM

Glad to hear Friend. Hope you find you like the new glasses.
