Default senior center

made a new friend. she came from bulgaria 35 years ago/ it turns out she is a chemist and does part time consulting. I thought she was much younger than i am but she is only two years younger. she said i looked younger too. had to put that in. she has been sitting at the table for months but she never talked to anybody. I assumed she wasn't friendly. Last week or the week before as would happen at most senior ce \nters somebody takes too much gravy wh[ch can be replenished. she would dump it all into her container if she got it first. I finally spoke to her and told her we don't do that. she smiled and I got scared next time she didn't do it and smiled at me/ then she brought candy canes.
yesterday was the first day I wound up sitting next to her and found out how friendly and nice she was. her husband has cancer. he is seventy two but she said with the type of cancer he has he could live another 20 years.I was really shocked by the whole thing...pleasantly shocked.
